The second 'dry season' month finished climatically... the figures are in although by the time and date there a still a few hours to go before the 1st of July. As expected, its been as dry as a witches tit over the Northern Territory with no rain recorded in the Darwin Airport gauge and only 6.8mm in the Alice Springs gauge. Yulara Airport saw 13.6mm for the month. The far north east coastal regions of the NT which saw some rain showers courtesy of moisture coming in off the Gulf of Carpentaria. Cape Wessel with 10mm was the highest total. Victoria River Downs cattle station had a 22mm fall back on the 1st of June. The Top End had a good old fashioned dry surge c/w low dp's and below average mins and max temps earlier in the month. Darwin had a run of 8 consecutive mins below 20c and 4 consecutive days below 30c. However a warmer and humid trend in the second half of the month delivered mins right on the monthly mean and +0.9c above for max temps. Alice Springs was also warmer than the long term means both min and max temps; +0.8c for mins and +1.9c for max temps. The last week of June was hot across the Top End, with some +35c temps inland from the coast combined with above average mins in the low 20c's and dp's in the low 20's. While not record breaking, the max temps have been up in the 95% ile for June. Rainfall - Nil rainfall ( long term mean 1.8mm, median 0.0mm ) Highest daily fall - Nil Max temps - 31.7c av ( long term mean 30.8c ) Highest max 33.8c on the 30th. Lowest max 28.0c on the 8th Min temps - 20.0c av ( long term mean 20.0c ) Highest min 24.2c on the 1st. Lowest min 14.7c on the 8th. Rainfall - 6.8mm falling on 3 days ( long term mean 13.0mm) Highest daily fall 6.4mm Max temps - 21.8c av ( long term mean 19.9c) Highest max 29.7c on the 29th. Lowest max 15.3c on the 5th Min temps - 5.7c av ( long term mean 4.9c ) Highest min 15.5c on the 20th. Lowest min -0.4c on the 23rd.

June was the wettest month I’ve experienced in my lifetime. However it didn’t feel that wet as most precipitation fell overnight. It was also extremely stable. Except for the awesome severe storm on the 12th and 2-3 other good storms it was actually a boring month.
Average high: 74.5 (-0.6 f) Average low: 55.1 (+0.7 f)
Precipitation: 8.93” (199%, +4.44”) Precip days: 17
Wettest day: 2.37” (60 mm) on the 19th
Highest temp: 85 on the 5th and 13th Lowest temp: 46 on the 10th Highest low: 62 on the 25th and 26th Lowest high: 63 on the 10th

June 2024 Summary South Yorkshire (records from Sheffield)Half the year over and after a long wetter than average period, June finally broke the grim weather with a fine, dry month of average temperatures. Indeed it was a "Mediterranean" month with less than 30mm confirming 2024 as another Csb year, as with every other year recorded, though the climate is still Cfb due to no one month between April-September averaging less than 30mm over the years. The first half of June was quite cool but not record breakingly so by a long way. It did record my lowest min temperature of 5.1°C, but that is well within the bounds of normal. Much of the first half's weather was dry, crisp and sunny. Very ideal and comfortable for outdoor activity. Brief spell of low pressure mid-month. This brought convective rainfall, and there was a nearly total lack of frontal rain in the month. Second half brought a heatwave; as defined as 3 or more days exceeding 25°C, and it peaked at 26.6°C in this period, in-fact one of the "lower" indeed the 2nd "lowest" absolute maximim of the Junes in my records; nonetheless the humidity and absence of wind made the period quite uncomfortable, most being glad when it was over including me. Apart from the discomfort of that period, the month was a fine month overall and it was finally a dry month, and the first "below average" month of the year for the temperature, if only due to slightly cooler than average nights.

Dry as fuck, warmer than normal, forgettable month with no storms to speak of aside from sustained midsummer-like periods of 75+°F dewpoints and back-to-back 90s highs the last third of the month, this is overall a B-grade June, with good temps, but loses points for getting fuck all storms. The month started off incredibly cloudy, with only 31.4 hours halfway through the month. There was a 'recovery' in the 2nd half. Overall, a pretty meh month. Too dry and cloudy, which is the worst possible combination. There was a couple of frosts which was nice, and it felt wintry for the most part.

The third below average month in a row. A rare atmospheric river kicked off the month, and while it boosted the monthly precip total significantly, the lack of meaningful rain after it meant it wasn't enough for the month to finish with normal or above normal precip.

Since I missed the May box before, I will start with May. It was a controversial month. The first decade was cold, and such a low absolute minimum temperature has not yet been recorded in this century. However, the following two decades were warm and overall the month was 2.4c above average. The month was really dry and also very sunny, with 137% of the sunshine norm for the country as a whole. June was also warmer and sunnier than average, although with a slightly smaller deviation than May and still dry in my region. Sunshine in the country averaged 119% of the average, the distribution of precipitation in different regions was different, eg the western part received precipitation above the norm. On the west coast of the islands, May was even 4.3c warmer than average and June 2.6c. Precipitation - May was particularly dry, June was practically the same as average. Sunshine was significantly above average - 410 hours in May, 310 in June.

Summary for Scoresby
Average max: 13.7c (-0.5c) Average mean: 9.4c (-1.0c) Average min: 5.1c (-1.4c) Max high: 17.0c (28th) Max low: 11.4c (29th) Min high: 10.6c (13th) Min low: 0.1c (19th) Precipitation: 43.6mm (61.4% of mean) Precipitation days: 11 Precipitation days (>= 1mm): 4 Sunshine hours: 105.4 A cooler, drier and cloudier month than average. It felt wintery much of the time, even though the synoptics weren't that winterlike interestingly. We were dominated by large highs which reduced rainfall from westerly systems, which was an extension of the pattern seen in May. Otherwise, there's nothing much to note that hasn't already been mentioned before.

This was a very mild June, the wettest one since 2014 and the coolest one since 2004. Our record high was 29C and the second warmest temperature after that was 25C (which we only hit twice in the entire month). It was basically a slightly warmer and much wetter version of May. While that wasn't an ideal start to summer temperature-wise, I far prefer it over the drought and persistent smoke that we dealt with last year. This was also our 6th consecutive month with above average precipitation. Halfway through the year, we've already received more precipitation than we did all of last year. Average high: 20.4C (normal: 22.3C) Average low: 9.2C (normal: 10.2C) Mean temperature: 14.8C (normal: 16.3C) Warmest high: 29.1C (June 23rd) Warmest low: 14.4C (June 24th) Coldest high: 13.1C (June 8th) Coldest low: 3.6C (June 18th) Precipitation total: 111.0mm (normal: 73.9mm) Precipitation days: 15 (normal: 13.4) Sun hours: 242.0 (normal: 253.0)

San Luis Obispo was about average. Finally some warm weather in contrast to January-May. The first 30c day on June 4 was very late in the year. Seattle when I visited during the last 1.5 weeks was above average, but the month as a whole was average. It felt a bit cooler than SLO and more partially cloudy than clear. And I spent a few days in Las Vegas. The month was the hottest June ever recorded there and 7F above average. And finally my first half of 2024 overall. Las Vegas skewed the averages quite a bit.

At first I though June was going to be shit, but it ended up being a decent month. Not a particularly hot June, but still, it had some hot and humid days. Average sunshine hours.
Many days had at least some rain (17), but no days were very wet.
8 days with thunderstorms, not many considering the precipitation days.

June was warmer, sunnier and wetter than average. Despite all this, it wasn't that an interesting month. A bit of heat, bit of thunder, but otherwise just regular run of the mill early Finnish summer that wasn't very variable. After the spectacular May, June didn't really feel warmer than average.
Highest high: 30.6C (28th) Highest low: 17.2C (29th) Lowest high: 14.7C (9th) Lowst low: 8.6C (10th and 22nd)
Anomalies compared to 91-20,

Also, it was warmer than PEIGEI.
