Amazing, Beercules ! Oh and nei , it's my girlfriend's little brother's 24" mountain bike, so it makes it a lot easier I'll have to admit. Cheers man! Was an unexpected surprise after a cool and overcast day.

I don't know why but I find the dead trees in the water kinda funny. Like those colors though!

Not a particularly inspiring atmosphere in Turin this week: Turin doesn't quite give the impression of being "uno paradiso mediterraneo" this time of the year I've seen heavy fog when I was younger and watching football in places like Piacenza, Parma and Verona too though so I assume it's a Northern Italy-wide phenomenon? Getting fog right in a picture is difficult at times so you've done well there

Fog is pretty common all over the Po plain during the whole winter season (late Fall and early spring too). The worse part is probably in the countryside around towns like Alessandria, Modena or Mantova. Did you see Juventus playing in a bright yellow uniform this week because of the fog? link

No, didn't see that! I'm amazed they managed to play in that weather I've hardly ever seen fog that bad here and this is a place that averages around 85-90 % humidity in winter! That being said, would you say Liguria's coastline is a mediterranean paradise or is it too maritime in terms of winds and summer downpours for that?

No, didn't see that! I'm amazed they managed to play in that weather I've hardly ever seen fog that bad here and this is a place that averages around 85-90 % humidity in winter! That being said, would you say Liguria's coastline is a mediterranean paradise or is it too maritime in terms of winds and summer downpours for that? When talking about "paradiso mediterraneo" I was more thinking about a cool place on the coast of the Mediterranean sea than about a place with a mediterranean climate, because that's the most common meaning we give to the adjective "mediterraneo". So Liguria definitively falls in the "Mediterranean places" category to me (well, al least the coastline, the inland is quite mountainous). I'm not sure about the paradise part instead, there are a couple of really cool places but it tends to be too crowded for enjoying the scenery. Also the vegetation along the coast is really mediterranean looking (but surely it is much greener than in Sicily for example). As for the fog instead, during that football match it was thick enough to cause some troubles to the players, but it was not that thick in absolute terms. The Po plain during the winter season tends to have long periods of stable weather, in which air stratifies because of thermal inversion phenomena. The cold air layer on the bottom of the Po plain is extremely prone to the formation of a lot of fog, often it is even visible from the satellite. For example, here there is the sat picture of Monday morning. Furthermore, this thin layer of cold air is also really prone to the accumulation of air pollutants. Considering that the Po plain is also the area with the highest population and industrial density of the country, it is thus not surprising to see that the pollution levels tend to be quite high (real time pollution map of Europe)

The sun has finally started rising before I wake up. This morrow I awoke to two suns. And it's still bright at 3 o'clock. Nice. They've also built a snow labyrinth in the middle of our city center square. Who wants frozen balls? Sorry for very mediocre pictures. Umeå and Tavelsjö are simply put really ugly right now. It's windy and cloudy. No snow on trees, no blue skies, just depressing overcast cold windy weather. This was kinda cool though. This is alongside the main road in Tavelsjö.

I'm deeply sorry for breaking the winter mood, but for once I have an actual weather-related pic to post. The banks of the Marne river a few km upstream from Paris yesterday: Ohh, let's plant a couple Chinese windmill palms in front of the house and pretend this January wasn't the absolute worst weather month ever experienced in the history of mankind.

Completely sunny day today, with a little frost on the trees. Lovely view out the window. This is definitely a shot no dedicated camera would be able to take. Went out on the lake. It was bloody bright. And you could actually slightly feel the sun on your cheek (and my black skinny jeans). There was some extremely creepy frost formation on the ice. Looked like some gross alien web. There were, I kid you not, fucking three centimeter wide frost crystals on the ground. I don't know why but for some reason the last two days have seen sunsets similar to those you'll find in Greece in summer where the sky turns orange, red and pink even without clouds. Must be ice crystals or something in the air.

Went for a walk on the Appalachian Trail today for the first time in quite a while. I realize the barren landscape may not be the most popular but I like it. Provides a nice contrast to the rest of the year. Time for a new flag: Stream wasn't frozen: Snow started to accumulate:

Here's a couple of videos I took since the pictures didn't really capture the snow.

Nothing wrong with a set of pictures of bare trees and under overcast skies. Love this atmosphere; it will be gone soon enough. My favorite is the boardwalk pic. For once it was sunny and chilly today (temps in the mid-30s). Loads of seagulls appear from nowhere as soon as it gets cold here, does anyone else notice the same pattern where they live? The Seine river is high. Seagulls. Seagulls everywhere. One wouldn't know that the sea is 365 km downstream. Will take some cleaning when the water recedes. That sky! "Hang on, buddy!" See the log? The "N" on the bridge stands for Napoleon. The city hall is one of my favorite buildings in Paris. Wtf is this? Quite the fancy clock they have installed there! This stately building couldn't house anything but some sort of justice court. The confluence is underwater. Looking west Demonstration against the Iranian regime going on.

Very nice pictures! Is that a park that's underwater? Also looks like there's some building going on with those cranes.
