Saw two movies recently Insomnia (6.5/10) - Decent watch but otherwise a forgettable movie The Departed (9/10) - Even tho movie seemed long af, I don't think I ever felt bored watching it! Really fast-paced and full of action, not as good as the Goodfellas, but a close second I'm guessing you watched the American version of Insomnia. Watch the Norwegian one instead...it's quite good. I just finished watching The Outsider. Really decent Yakuza movie, despite the mixed reviews coming from the "critics".

Apparently the Departed is a remake too, of a Hong Kong movie

The "critics" are all bought and paid for, the recent Star Wars movie proved that.

Some more movie ratings
2012 (0/10) - Sucks ass, worst movie I've ever seen, no, actually worst anything that I've ever seen
Dark Knight Rises (3/10) - Your average shitty comic film
Das Leben der Anderen (8/10) - Very good altho very dark and sorta bittersweet ending
Django Unchained (9.5/10) - Fucking epic movie, and for once a Tarantino movie with likable lead characters
Goodfellas (10/10) - This movie is fucking amazing
Inglorious Basterds (9.5/10) - Legendary af, always fun to watch Nazis get beat up
Jacob's Ladder (4/10) - Lame plot twist that you could tell thirty minutes deep into the movie
Ocean's Eleven (7/10) - Fun movie, but not really memorable and also the main characters are all assholes
Pulp Fiction (10/10) - Fucking classic
Requiem for a Dream (8/10) - Pretty good buuut whoever wrote this needs help
Reservori Dogs (9/10) - Another classic, altho maybe not as good as Pulp Fiction

Dark Knight Rises (3/10) - Your average shitty comic film Nah. The Harry Potter books are for braindead kids. Any human with a brain will enjoy nothing but Ulysses. Enjoying anything else shows your intellect is inferior.

Harry potter is a great series of books and pretty well made series of films. For the films: generally good acting, interesting twists, compelling villains and a plot that expands with each film is why i enjoy the series.

Hating on Harry Potter because it's simple grinds my gears. It's excellently written to be an absolute page-turner, and as long as you're below 30, sure the emotions are pretty straight forward but they have a strange way of just working. And also, the the slow but steady advancement and conclusion of the plot from the end of book five and onwards and especially the last book, is great.
Also, no one's really as mature and dead inside as they wanna believe, and Harry Potter does a great job at speaking to the child in you.

Watched "The Way Way Back" with my mates yesterday; have seen it a few times with the same mates. It's the ultimate summer film for me; the first third is a bit slow but develops the story, then the 2nd and 3rd parts of the film are excellent with Sam Rockwell putting in an excellent performance as a the manager of a waterpark. The plot of the film is about a 14 year old guy called Duncan who is reluctantly on summer holiday with his mother, step dad (Steve Carrell) and step sister. It's the first holiday with all of them together. They meet the neighbours who Peter (Carrell) has know for decades as the house is his family's summer house. Duncan is an extremely shy and awkward person (the awkwardness is some scenes hurts me sometimes ) but eventually has a coming of age experience when he befriends an immature waterpark manager (Rockwell) and is given a job there. The film is excellent at depicting summer (even though it is an american film it just oozes summer) and the lifestyle of middle-aged people on vacation. There are quite a lot of quirky characters and amusing situations. The ending is also very well constructed and leaves you feeling good. Solid 8.5/10

I like your inclusion of The Truman Show, it is definitely wayyy ahead of its time and very unique. It wouldn't be in my top 10 (I think) but it is very good. Goodfellas would be in my top 10, maybe Empire Strikes back for quality+pure nostalgia. Nightcrawler would be up there as well.
