GFS drops the hammer down on Scandinavia and the British Isles next week. Looks particularly harsh in Southern Norway, where even the moderated Bergen will drop well below average

I've pretty much given up on our winter at this point. The west just does not get arctic blasts anymore.
Some nice spring-like weather on tap for Sunday....possibly up to 12-13C under skies. Hoping we don't get trapped in an inversion.

Tavelsjรถ is going strong with this -20'C weather. (This is a weatherstation just across the lake owned by the traffic and road authority) Funny thing is you can very clearly spot all the clear skies in the monthly timeline in the bottom.

And the air pressure is quite high, though nowhere near recordbreaking.

Cold zonality for the UK this upcoming week. I'm not excited for it though North-westerly don't deliver anything significantly cold to Southern England.

So after a 5 day clear sky spree, the clouds just came. And like that we're back up to normal.

A weather setup now that we have experienced many times here, often in winter. Strong Low in the Atlantic/near Iceland "pushing" against a strong High over Russia/Baltics. Gives us Southerlies, which is dry here north of Dovre /Trollheimen mts. If the High is slightly further North, we will have SE air. Sometimes this wind last for days and days as this might be a stable weather setup. And sometimes this wind can be strong. source: meteorologene@twitter Does southeast air mean cold? Any foehn effect from over dry air descending over the mountains?

Things are looking up after this Friday. Another period of above average temps coming up
Also Bunghole had a 16C high today, and might be dropping down to -23C tomorrow. Ridiculous temperature change, you don't see that everyday in Upstate NY. Maybe it's more common in the Plains

Any foehn effect from over dry air descending over the mountains? Not really with this setup, as the air is pretty dry in the first place. Temps depending on the source of the air been drawn to us. But usually cool (from SE Europe) to cold (from Russia) in winter, and warm in summer.

According to the forecast it's all cloud and snow next week. And according to that air pressure forecast above we're supposed to be getting low pressure which generally doesn't mean clear skies here

GFS drops the hammer down on Scandinavia and the British Isles next week. Looks particularly harsh in Southern Norway, where even the moderated Bergen will drop well below average One meteorologist quoted in a news article in Norway's largest newspaper mentioned models calling for the large High to move further north, and that this might channel very cold air from Russia and even Siberia to Scandinavina from about late next week. He even mention temperatures down to -40ยฐC to -50ยฐC (!) at Rรธros! He also mentioned -20ยฐC in the Oslo-region and -10ยฐC in Bergen. www.vg.no/nyheter/innenriks/i/ngw4Ax/storm-i-hele-landet-mandag-advarer-mot-sibirkulde (norwegian language) Looking at the forecast for Rรธros at yr, it is no colder than -25ยฐC sunday next week. Cold, but nothing unusual at Rรธros.

Where do you think it will be the most intense? -10C for Bergen is crazy considering how moderated it is. Most of England will drop below average too

If it verifies, inland will always be colder. But long before that, we are pretty certain to get strong SSE winds from late sunday as the Low comes closer to that big High.

Here we got about as crap weather as you can get for Mid-January yesterday. Temps in the low 80s with dews in the 70s - gross. Much cooler today though, 71 F (22 C) with a 54 F (12 C) dew point, much better. Looking cool for an extended period of time!

Fucking hell. Low temp for next Wednesday has been upped from 39 F (4 C) to 45 F (7 C) and it's literally the only cold night, everything around it looks lame.
This cold blast I foresee it being extremely disappointing, as is everything else in this piece of shit climate.
