How come when you go to nowdata the 81-10 monthly summarized normal are cooler than the officially published 81-10 normals? Will the same thing apply in the 2020 normals when they are published?

Rainy pattern starting up in Cali, Seattle turning chillier...you know what that means for us ๐๐๐๐น๐ธ๐๐๐๐ฅ Unfortunately, all the arctic air is forecast to move into Siberia so even with a favorable pattern (deep trough), 850mb temps only dip to around -5C. Probably a sloppy 5cm snowfall on the way for Vancouver to end Jan. Still hoping for an arctic blast this winter, but the window for one is closing fast now we're almost into Feb.

Fun drop in temperature today. It was 62 F/17 C at midnight. I had my patio door open all evening and enjoyed the subtropique air. By 1AM it dropped down to 46 F/8 C and then it was below freezing by 7AM. Right now it's 14 F/-10 C with a windchill of 0 F/-18 C.

Was 60ยฐF at 5 am here, 43ยฐF at 8 am, around freezing from around 9 am to 3 pm and breezy, now 17ยฐF.

Thereโs something with smoothing the data cuz of missing days. I made a thread on it on cd. Rochester has 0 missing days though since the early 1900s so I have no clue why they would smooth it.

Hope Seattle enjoyed the milkshakes, hair grease, and Elvis Presley while it lasted; no more 50s after this Tuesday

Official snow total for Friday night/Saturday morning is 1.2" (3 cm). It's our biggest snowfall in the past year, so I'll take it.
Just missed getting a third subzero low this month. The low this morning was 1ยบF.

14 F/-10 C with a windchill of 2 F/-17 C. Getting kind of acclimated to this cold. Not as shocking to the system as it was a few weeks ago.
Possibility for a few inches of snow Tuesday, but too early to say with certainty.
