Sunny, sunny, sunny. Sunny weather always looks the best. Makes colors pop. meh, I'd say the light is too harsh on the sunny one, and the contrast between the lit and non-lit areas look very photogenic in the partly cloudy shot. Sky has nicer color. Another cloudy shot up north, this time from Burlington, Vermont looking across Lake Champlain

Aside from this Friday (-8C with clouds, blah) the forecast doesn't look so bad anymore. GFS has been really volatile, I wouldn't even trust it more than 7-8 days out at this moment

GFS has been really volatile, I wouldn't even trust it more than 7-8 days out at this moment think we're right on the edge of a pattern shift that was focusing cold more on the Midwest, hard to predict accurately. I'm getting a lot cloudy days for our standards; nothing that cold. Northing that warm either, barely going above freezing in the afternoon.

Seems kind of sensitive whether the snow will remain on the ground for the forthcoming cold blast or not. If it doesn't then that's F---------------------------- level.

massive snowfall in västernorrland the coming 24hrs. 30-60cm expected, locally more. smhi has issued a class 2 warning (orange), which is rare for snowfall.

Despite starting the month with the coldest first week of January on record, it will end up finishing above average.
The last back to back below average months? January-March, 2015.

Definitely not above average in LaGuardia or in Binghamton. Binghamton has been in some sort of below-average valley recently, as it had back-to-back-to-back-to-back below average months between May and August of last year, and again from November and January. Bizarre. Why is Binghamton out of all places below-average so often? Maybe the falling population means results in a lesser UHI? Dunno LaGuardia has been below average for three months in a row too, first time since January-March 2015

snow for higher up in Spain. How much are you getting overdrive1979 ? Ryan Maue's comment about "Mediterranean climates" is silly; it's obviously higher elevation areas that are getting snow; which I assume occasionally gets snow.

175cm of snow in gåltjärn at the southern norrlands coast after yesterdays snowfall. that's just 15cm below the all-time highest snow depth in sweden outside the scandes. 110cm in sundsvall. 88cm in härnösand.

GFS has above freezing temperatures at the North Pole on Tuesday. Probably won't happen. A strong 953 mb low over the Arctic ocean would pull up mild air from over the Norwegian Sea

Daily record broken for Redding (78°F) and Red Bluff (79°F). Monthly record for Redding is only 5°F higher at 83°F, most likely late in February. Lommaren

EURO looking very promising after February 9th! GFS is looking more bearish, but no extreme cold for us. The worst of this week is gonna be reserved for Minneapolis and Winnipeg. Winnipeg looks like it's gonna have -15/-20C highs this week. My goodness

Winnipeg looks like it's gonna have -15/-20C highs this week. My goodness GFS is looking not cold for me, but just average looking maybe a few degrees above average. Looks like around then could be a good time for White Mountains hiking; will try to plan for then.

Seems like a forecast you'd see in ocean-moderated Europe, more unstable of course, but similar temperatures

Not the first time you post something from Ryan Maue either where he's making a stupid comment. High elevation areas in Spain get snow pretty much every winter, nothing unusual.

We're looking at different places, though and GFS
