Look at any number of weather sites and apps and they'll all say the same thing for Bangkok: "clear", "mostly sunny", etc. But looking out from my balcony this is what I actually see: Does this look in any way "clear" or "sunny" to you? I'd call this "overcast". I literally can't see even the tiniest patch of blue anywhere in the sky! It really undermines my confidence in these apps. I'm sick of this gloomy, depressing weather. It's been well over a week since the last genuinely sunny day. This is NOT what I expect from the "dry season" here! 😠😤

Doesn't seem like we'll be able to walk across the Bothnia bay this year either. Ice extent has gone back, and the forecast is pretty mild now, and I don't know if we'll get many more major cold snaps after the last week of February.

In fact, I'm not sure if you can do that more than a couple of days per century. This is the most ice extent we managed in the 2010 winter. Which IIRC had the largest extent since 1987 which was the coldest in a century.

nice early morning. Not that cold on the summit at sunrise, 27°F and 36 mph winds. Supposed to snow -> sleet and freezing rain there
here? Gloomy and pouring rain, upper 30s

Had quite a bit of rainfall yesterday, I measured 2.58". This is the most I had in a single day since August 31 last year from Hurricane Harvey.
I'm up to 9.06" of rain so far this year. The airport has recorded 9.28" so far.

NWS is forecasting a high of 76F on Thursday... Hopefully it doesn't end up approaching 80F. The warmest it's been so far this year was 72F.

in the summer, ocean-chilled San Francisco is the coldest part of the Bay Area; so far this winter, it's the warmest of the stations listed.

"Partly cloudy" and the sky would look like this... 40F right now. Beautiful forecast coming up. Looks more like a typical Philadelphia or a New York forecast than an Upstate NY one

All major models are pointing towards a potential arctic blast impacting the PNW in 7-10 days. Still far out so I wouldn't be surprised if it trends east given the way this winter has gone.

I'm praying for you rpvan, also hoping Seattle gets fucking obliterated by the arctic blast. Seven days out is not just white noise, it probably will impact you guys It's raining outside right now. Normally I hate cold rain, but now it sounds fucking amazing. A rainy 6C day is a nice change from the -5C temperatures we had all week. -5C temps for weeks on end gets old, even if it is sunny

I just realized that KC had a streak of 15 consecutive ice days, from 23 December to 6 January. In a place as unstable as the midwest, very unusual.
The only other time periods that come close in the time since I've moved here are 12-19 December 2016 (8 days) and 17-23 January 2016 (7 days).
Interestingly, my birthday has been an ice day all three years so far.
Aside from these isolated blocks of cold, these few years have been exceptionally mild. February 2017 was particularly extreme. The average daily maximum was 13.3C and average minimum was 0C. Only 1.5mm of precipitation fell in the entire month (not a typo), all of it from a brief and extremely light snow shower on the afternoon of the 24th. The highest temperature recorded during the month? 26.1C!
