Another year of weather is over and this is the thread to add the features of weather you want in 2018.
For example, in Buxton summer was cloudier than average again and August was once more very cool and pathetic, so I'd like a warmer, sunnier August in 2018. Also Buxton had no overhead thunderstorm at all during the year 2017, which is the only year in my records that this has ever happened (thunder was heard on several days but never closer than 2 miles). So hopefully 2018 will provide some decent storms like 2016, which was a good year for convection.
So what are you most hoping to see in 2018 (can be anything from a intense snowstorm to a major record heatwave) and it has to be realistic, not something that obviously wouldn't happen in your climate.
I want:
- Decent convective events/overhead thunderstorms like 2016 or better
- High pressure and sunny periods in March-May
- A couple of deep snow episodes but no more than that
- A sunny above average July-August
- A much drier than average year overall
- Above average temps in most months

And I'm hoping the southern USA gets endless swarms of F5 tornadoes and softball sized hail storms.

To be realistic, I say keep this below average streak through April and then normal for the rest of the year.

March and april could really be a doozy. Its ironic that you wish this when the possibility of a strong severe season exists this year!

So massive crop failures 2018?π I'm hoping for that. Let's get some shots of subzero air deep down south like in January '85.

January: one 5+ day snowy spell with at least one ice day, other than that I'm happy to write the month off and don't care how wet it is February: sunnier than average, don't care about temps March-April: same, sunshine is all I'm bothered about seeming as it can't get that warm yet anyway, ideally no frosts past about 10 April though May: warmer than average, ideally as summer-like as possible June: sunnier than average July: warmer than average, if we're going to get storms now would be the best time August: sunnier than average, and we're due a sunny August after the past few years September: sunnier than average especially in the first half, just being warmer won't keep the summer feel going if it's overcast too much October: a better foliage display than last year, so clear, chilly nights and no gales until the end of the month November: raging gales and heavy rain with some calm, foggy interludes December: sunnier than average with at least one decent spell of lying snow

You know what, hope you get what you want... bet you will be biting back on what ya want then... π. Your city dwelling butt will be one of the first affected... im still mind boggled at how vostok is your ideal climate...

For Lerwick, in winter: a cold, squally winter with at least 80 days of snowfall and subfreezing temperatures with frequent hurricane force 12 gales in excess of 64 knots on at most a weekly basis.
For Lerwick, in summer: a squally, unsettled summer with the frail chance of an occasional snowfall and frequent force 9 gales in excess of 40 knots occuring on at most a weekly basis.

- Below average weather through April
- Stormier than normal from May through August/early September
- At least some action during Hurricane Season, whether it be a tropical storm or weak hurricane (Irma was a lot of fun, despite not having power for 5 days)
- Much below average weather October through December
That's about it. Regardless of the amount of adjustments or hopes I can have for this climate, it's not enough for me to like this climate. But if that ^ were to occur, it'd be more livable for me.
