One of my favorite Siberian climates, due to the fact that it's not quite as extreme as Verkhoynask/Oymaykon, but still quite bitter in winter. Looks a good deal snowier as well than most Siberian cities. For me, the seasonal range is about ideal, but the temps are about 10-15 F (6-8 C) too cold. Too dry in summer and could use a bit more precipitation in winter as well. Still a very interesting climate to me, I give it a B+.

Good find but a terrible climate. F

Yeah agreed with what Lommie say. Doesn't matter how much it gets warm in summer, those winters make an automatic grade F.

Solid F. Not F- though, itโs definitely not the worst climate out there IMO.

Dโ. Winters are a little too chilly and summers quite bland, and there doesn't seem to be any precipitation. Nothing more than a cold fucken desert...shameful combination! Why is its diurnal range so fucken narrow when it's so bloody inland? Fucken hate climates like that!

F. The winters are bad enough to interfere with every day life, not to mention the darkness with that extreme cold.

Why is its diurnal range so fucken narrow when it's so bloody inland? Fucken hate climates like that! I think being at 64 N, the nights are too short to allow much cooling? Also, looks like summer is probably the most humid season, which hinders the cooling off at night. And during winter the sun is probably too weak to allow much warming up during the day. Still, a 24/10 C diurnal range isn't that low IMO.

Considering extremely cold temps = higher snowfall per mm precipitation I think it would easily receive 170 cm snow per year

Considering extremely cold temps = higher snowfall per mm precipitation I think it would easily receive 170 cm snow per year With that much snow, I can now give it a D+. Still, not enough snow falling; snowfall is far more important than snow accumulation to me.

Look at the amount of snow days though (assuming it's accurate), easily 70% of days between October and March see some snow falling lol. I think 170 cm of snow is actually a conservative estimation.

The melt will be non-existent too, so it'll feel way snowier than Yakutsk. Having said that, a lot of those Russia snowfall days look extremely fishy to me, don't you agree?

Fuck me dead, I forgot to look at the snowy days! It now gets a solid C.

I don't think such a cold place would see like 75% of days between October and March with snow falling, unless the cold averages are created by very frequent mild air intrusions which elevate moisture balanced with the occasional very extreme, bitter, cold snap. I think maybe Russian stations either A.) Have a really low threshold for what constitutes as a "snowy day". B.) Perhaps instruments read wrong and count freezing/ice fog accumulations as "snow". C.) Maybe it actually IS accurate....

I think A and B are very well onto the case alex992. Yakutsk having 28 snow days in January for like 8 mm is just ludicrous. Must be "spot a flurry in Florida" games they're playing to get that, don't you think?

It's a very interesting climate. It's always fun with extreme continental climates, but I could never live there. The winters are horrible and something I can't comprehend. After all, -25c is the coldest temperature I've ever felt and that was bad enough.
July looks rather nice though, but too rainy. 25c must feel like heaven when you've endured an 8 months long winter with -40 on a regular basis. I'm sure the people who live there must go completely amok in that one summer month.
F+ because of July. It is after all better than Ushakov Island.

It's about the same latitude as here but the annual mean is almost 15ยฐC colder!
However, Jun-Aug look nice as long as you can adjust to Jun & Aug overnight freezes. Spring, like autumn, is like one month there.

I would rate this as an F, but considering how far north this place is I'll give it an E since the summer is warm (though very short), I prefer Siberia's more southern climates such as Borzya or Biysk
