San Francisco, a climate usually disliked on here, won against all three. Lol.

Haha, back on CD I pointed out that London has actually won quite a few climate battles, although B87 didn't seem happy because I had basically created a menu for trolls It was beating New Orleans amd San Jose until I made that list.

I believe that Bradford has a 100% win rate, despite going up against the likes of San Diego.

Surprised London beat Warsaw with the cold bias there, and surprised London lost so badly to Paris and Ipswich when the climates are the same.
It also lost to Bradford which has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Its winter are very slightly colder, but its summer make it for it and most would take that combination over London. London and most moderate climates get poor ratings but once they're pitted against a more extreme or continental climate, London often wins as the other climate offends more people. Ditto with Melbourne; London isn't cold enough to excite those who like cold, while Melbourne wins for being more interesting and only real heat haters pick London. Against more cold continental climates like Warsaw, London will get those who like mild climates + cold haters who'd pick any climate warmer than London.

Heaviest defeats are often to very similar climates. In London vs Paris you're basically putting London up against a very similar climate, but a similar climate that is basically an upgraded London.

My Ardahan vs Umeå was really lopsided like 14-0 when both climates had similar averages. Everyone preferred warmer days and colder nights and a bit more sun.

I recall Lerwick vs Torshavn being the same. Lerwick was like 25-0 ahead at one point if I remember correctly.

It's easier for it to be lopssided when two climates are incredibly similar if one's better in every way, like Paris and London. There's not much of a difference between Portsmouth and Brighton, but nobody would pick Brighton.

London has the same advantage in winter, as Paris has in the summer, if you compare like for like (Heathrow vs Orly). The Paris wiki stats are for the middle of the UHI.

Paris is cheating in that way. Orly should be used to compare. However, Paris actually seems to average close to 1800h of sunshine when using more rural stations without terrain obstruction, so Paris actually is sunnier.

Paris offers more for the cold lovers, and a lot of warm bias users would happily take a slight winter hit for the warmer summers. Averages don't tell the whole story, Paris seems far more prone to swings.
