I can't be fucked to look at all of them, so can you do me a nice little favour and tell me which is the coldest? A tundra (ET) climate would do me rather well...if not tundra, then find something cold.  |

HarbinSince there are no tundra maritime or ideal inland climates on this poll, Harbin takes my vote as the most exciting of the lot.

Theres some with better temps but those ones get fucked with wet, humid summers.
Yinchaun is probably a B.

Shenyang wins for me. Knew some nice girls from there a few years ago. 2nd place goes to Lanzhou which has a lot of similarities to the Denver area.

Boy, this is tough! My favorite chinese city would be Qingdao but it's not the capital of Shandong.
North Central China (Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang and Jinan, Zhengzhou) has a bit too hot summers for my taste, and is too dry overall with a poor precip pattern but is a solid seasonal climate, in general. The far north (Harbin etc.) is just too cold in winter, and Tibet/Qinghai just too cold and dry overall. The south-center (Nanjing, Wuhan, Shanghai, is a bit hot and humid in summer and dull overall, but still decent. The far south (Guangzhou etc.) just seems very oppressive in summer, and it lasts for 5+ months down there. Kunming is pleasant but bland. Lanzhou also has decent temps but is semiarid.
I really like Guiyang's temps for a mild climate, it reminds me of Trieste, it's a pity that it's so gloomy though.
Taiyuan has pretty reasonable temps as well, winters and nights are bit a touch too cold and it's semi-arid. Beijing/Shijiazhuang/Tianjin are Bsk/borderline Bsk, so it comes down to Jinan vs Zhengzhou, which have pretty similar temps to St. Louis in the US. Since Jinan is a bit sunnier and wetter it's my choice.

Kunming is the best with a B- rating. It isn't warm enough in summer and also a bit too mild in winter, but it has nice mild weather and is known for it.
After that are Hefei, Nanjing, and Shanghai, which are B-/C+. A bit too extreme in both summer and winter and too cloudy, but still good overall. Shanghai has the advantage of milder winters while Nanjing and Hefei have more sunshine and weaker typhoons. I prefer Wenzhou for a mainland east coast climate, but it's not a capital.

God I don't really like any of them. Most of the humid continental climates in China is just too dry in the winter for me to rate an A.
So I would go with Beijing...

Interesting climate battle. Hong Kong I think for me, only warm one that isn't hideously cloudy in winter. Haikou has the best temps though. |

Kunming. The others are all pretty bad, half of them have awful cold, dry winters while the other half have awful hot, humid, cloudy summers.
