Quite lame, boring and much milder than normal in the grand majority of places. October/November were seeing more interesting conditions than now.

Sunrise: 9:08 Sunset: 15:19 Day length: 6 h 12 min Peak sun angle: 7,7°
We've reached the earliest sunsets of the year, they'll stay at this time for a week and then start getting later again. As I don't care about sunrises nearly as much, this is pretty much the solstice.

Sunrise: 08:20
Sunset: 15:46
7 hours, 26 minutes
It looks like this might be the darkest afternoon of the year with the dense overcast and rain we have today. It still can get worse than this though, 15:05 and the streetlights aren't on yet.
We have to wait until the 18th for our first 15:47 sunset. I like it how the darkest afternoon comes before the darkest day, it means it feels like it's getting lighter before it actually is.

I know we're in the shortest days of the year when the sun stays behind the pine trees in the backyard. Took this at around noon today facing south. Peak sun angle 28.7°.

And here it is, first sign of it starting to turn around. Some more light wouldn't hurt.

Sunrise: 08:25 Sunset: 15:48
7 hours, 23 minutes
Very gloomy/foggy today, so it definitely felt like the true "darkest day of the year" because the first/last hour of the day were pretty much only half-light.

Sunny today doesn't feel that darkBoke. I like the differences in daylight we get, so it feels right to maximise it by having dense overcast on the winter solstice and clear blue skies all day on the summer solstice. We actually had our best warm spell coming up to the summer solstice this year, I can't remember how sunny it was but 21st June was warmer than any other day in the rest of the summer afterwards.
