Got only drizzle from that bright red spot in northwest Massachusetts for like 2 minutes. Another bout of more widespread batch of rain. And then sweet imported dry air from Canada!

Van Nuys in the San Fernando Valley (only 5 miles away from movie studios) reached 117°F. Looks like it's average high is normally high 80s? forecast Inland Los Angeles is as hot as the southwest hot deserts. You can see the heat is gone for most of the eastern US

Cold front passing through is more dramatic for higher up. Mt. Washington had a fast drop while temperatures held steady with the diurnal cycle. Barely above freezing at the summit now. wind picked up Mt. Mansfield lower down at 3900 feet; no dewpoint data. 45°F at sunset at that elevation is cold. 60°F is more normal?

extremely warm overnight in Orange, MA. Low of only 78°F some very high rainfall totals for the last two days from the pop-up thunderstorms yesterday and the storms preceding the cold front this morning. Six inches sounds very high, hope the map is based on reality; couldn't find the local stations where it came from from the precipitation analysis from this map: weather maphere's the heatwave using the station at Orange, MA. Very warm lows for here. you can see July 4th was the driest day, last Sunday the hottest. LaGuardia Airport in NYC reached slightly higher dews on the 3rd, a little lower before that.

Today’s rain cooled low of 72F will likely be the coolest of the month. It’s very difficult to get below 74F this time of year without extenuating circumstances like heavy storms.

Heat wave ended quickly last night. The high today was 80 (27 C) at 1 AM.
Didnt get out of the mid 70s during the day and the dew point dropped to just 47 (8 C), very different from the 81 (27 C) dew just 26 hours before.
Cool down will be short lived with mid to high 80s returning tomorrow. Hoping the warmth lasts for awhile after I get back...

Storm came through this afternoon, but didn't really seem like a lot of lightning. I think the storm produced more once it got past Alexandria. Drove through heavy rain, but only had a tenth of an inch at my house. The airport got 0.91".
