This summer has been fantastic so far! We havenβt had any rainfall since the end of April though so a couple of storms would be nice..
Also despite constant 27/32c max temperatures weβve yet to see some real heat. If we can get that then this summer will truly be one of the best ever

Rochester hit 93 (34 C) yesterday, the 8th 90 of the month and the 12th of the year!
Shaping up to be a great summer for heat so far. Through 14 days, this month has an average high of 89.0 (31.7 C) which is the 4th warmest first 2 weeks of July and the warmest since the epic 1952.
If The 10-day looks above average but coooler, probably will still be a top-10 warmest month though.
July has also been dry so far with only 0.65β (16 mm) coming on just 2 rainy days.
If August keeps up the warmth, this could be almost as good a summer as 2016.

Back in Rochester today. Grass is properly scorched and brown in my yard and most other yardsβa sign of a nice hot, dry summer.
Today added the 10th and 14th 90s of the month and year, last I checked it was 92 (33 C).
Feels nice and hot and itβs mostly sunny, great weather to return to.

Nice got 137% of its average monthly rainfall from a storm today (around 21 mm), and much more than what I saw on the three Julys I spent there combined. Nice dew point drop from it, from 23Β°C to 17Β°C; must have felt heavenly. Nearby Capo Mele's dewpoint dropped from 26Β°C (!) to 14Β°C today.

Or just a bigger storm? IME, thunderstorms lower the temperature but raise the dewpoint

Happy Valley - Goose Bay reached 34.3Β°C (93.7Β°F) today, 1Β°F warmer than here today. Almost a record there. Observations big blocking high over the Atlantic; jet stream was further to the north than usual you could see it was pulling a line of hot air from the 850 hPa map, 850 hPa temperatures 19-22Β°C over central Labrador just like New England today but the GFS shows temperatures only in the low 80s today afternoon there, 10-12Β°F cooler than New England, which obviously didn't happen. from same model run showing hot temperatures aloft. Weird. I know the GFS has accuracy issues, but for less than half a day later it should be spot on; it takes current observations

Below average for the first time in nearly a month today, the high just 18.8C Mostly low 20s highs forecast for the next week, which is pleasant enough but it does mean no chance of getting our warmest July ever.
