Hit 90 (32 C) today, below the forecast but still it added the 11th 90+ day this month and the 15th this year.
This is T-4th most 90s in July and T-6th most in any month.
It is also the most 90s in any month since July 1955, a full 63 years ago!
Through 20 days, the average high is still an astonishing 88.4 (31.3 C), which would be the record warmest if it holds.
We have also been upgraded to D1 conditions (moderate drought), the “worst” drought since December 2016. Very nice!
The grass is very dry and brown just how I like it (in summer).
Unfortunately, next week looks cooler (although still above average) and wet so the drought and recor warmth will be ruined.
Well it was nice for the 3 weeks it lasted...

Some massive anomolies in parts of Upstate NY this month. Rochester and Albany both +5F above average. LGA is at a decent +3.2F anomaly, other stations in the city are only 1 to 2F above average

Upper level low and clouds down to almost Georgia, rain hovering for a while; doesn't look like a summer pattern at all

The rest of the month looks dreadful. 80/65 and rain every fucking day. Couldn’t be more boring and annoying weather! Guess that’s what you get fun return for 3 weeks of record warmth This month is now on pace to average 86/64, still probably a top 10 warmest July but nowhere near as interesting as it could have been. The bigger issue is this rainy bullshit. Instead of having a top-10 dry month, and an interesting and worsening drought we’re gonna end up with average or above average rainfall and the drought will be gone in an instant Again the negative precipitation anomaly of the first 3 weeks will be wiped out. Also, I FUCKING HATE rainy summers. I want to be outside in the summer not inside due to rain and storms every fucking day. Yes, I could go outside in a raincoat but is that enjoyable? NO! Can I go outside when there’s thunder and lightning? NO. I like thunderstorms but not for a while goddamned week in a row. This month will be remembered for an exceptional first 3 weeks covered up by an abysmal final week. Rather than being remembered as a top-10 warm month, it’ll be remembered for what could have been...

Didn’t realize southern California waters could get that warm; must feel closer to the real Mediterranean

Had huge traffic jams while quitting Paris last Friday. Turned out the motorway was flooded somewhere in the suburbs, with about 15 cm of water on the roadway. Must have been an intense storm there.

Didn’t realize southern California waters could get that warm; must feel closer to the real Mediterranean They got warmer in the summer of 2006, in July of 2006, water temps approached 80°F off the coast of San Diego; and it caused one of the hottest July's (if not THE hottest) in California history

This is Bangkok's daily rainfall YTD. You can see how this month is seeing a sharp rise in the number of drizzly days with 0.1 - 5 mm of rain. The other months mostly had no rain at all (not even trace amounts) on most days with a handful of days having moderate to heavy rainfall (10+ mm). This month is remarkable for the predominance of drizzly, subarctic, suicidal weather with an exceptionally poor rain / sunshine ratio and an even worse rain days / thunderstorm days ratio.
