Looks like relief coming for some drought affected areas in TX, OK, LA, & AR. Around 5" being shown on the NE TX, SE OK border. Paris, TX in that area averages 2.7" of rain for the month of August.

northern California from above. Cool fire-y clouds. Is Australia as wildfire prone as California? Would be interested in comparing wildlife frequency

The first six days of August averages 33.3/19.7 (26.5) in Paris-Montsouris which is absolute terrible. Finally this Thursday suppose to have a below average temperature since July 11th, after long time of current persistent heatwave. Desperately hoping August will goes at least near from the normal temperatures.

northern California from above. Cool fire-y clouds. Is Australia as wildfire prone as California? Would be interested in comparing wildlife frequency. Australia is easily more bushfire-prone than California; the great amount of eucalyptus oil emitted from the vast eucalypt forests—alongside frequent W/NW winds in summer—earns Australia the bushfire victory over California. Western NSW, particularly its Northern sector (North West Slopes), tends to be most prone to bushfires.

Got up to 94 (34 C) today, probably the hottest until at least next summer unless we get a late month heatwave.
Of course the high was at fucking 1:30 PM and then it cooled down in the middle of the afternoon when it should be the hottest time of day. Happened on pretty much all of our hottest days this year, I can go back and check but I’m almost positive only 1-2 of our days over 93 had a high later than 2 PM while most other days had highs at 3-5 PM. Very annoying, prevents any extreme heat.
We now have 9 days over 93 this year, the most since 1988!
With today, we’re up to 17 days over 90. Over double our average, hope we can squeeze out a few more.
Last 2 days have been excellent but the next week looks like a mild, rainy mess. Hopefully they’ll be a couple thunderstorms or a bunch of the rain won’t materialize.
