very warm start to August. 77°F / 25°C doesn't sound that hot, but it's 7°F above average departures with the high humidity, it's mostly the lows. Yuck!

Still shocks me how NYC is warmer than places all the way in the south. It's like 10F warmer this month than some spots in Tennessee or North Carolina. Goodness

Rained quite a bit overnight, but it is actually looking like the precipitation chance has dissipated for the Shore. Would be a good beach day today as well, and maybe even tomorrow.

Amazing heat in the northwest and northern plains lately.
Glasgow, MT (near the Canadian border) reached 107 (42 C) yesterday! It was their highest temp since 1983 and just 1f off their August record high. They have a forecast high of 108 today, so they should beat it.
Farther west, Missoula, MT hit 104 (40 C), their second hottest August day on record and the hottest in 57 years.
Baker City, OR reached 109 (43 C), beating their old all time record high by 3 f!
Boise, ID hit 110 (43 C), tying their August record high and came within 1 of their all time record.
Lewiston, ID reached 111 (44 C), the hottest temp during this heatwave but they didn’t threaten any records.
Today, the heat spreads east into North Dakota today and tomorrow with temps in the 100s up into southern Canada.

The heat continues in Western Canada - Regina reached 39C this afternoon, and Moose Jaw (80km west of Regina) reached 42C, setting a new record high for August, and coming up just shy of their all-time record of 43.3C. It's also the hottest temperature recorded in Canada this year so far.

Dust storm just blew through and knocked our power out, it also dropped the temp from 37.8°C to 32.2°C in 20 mins.
This has been an active week for us, it's our 5th storm in 6 days (yesterday was inactive) and the second time we've lost power in the last two weeks
