Yesterday Williston, ND hit 108 (42 C), tying their August record high and tying their warmest temp since 1980.
Today, the recorded a max temp of 77 (25 C) at midnight. The rest of the day did not go above 67 (19 C).
Amazing change for summer...high of 108 one day and just 67 at the same time the next day.

It'll be interesting to see if any hurricanes make landfall over the coming weeks as the SSTs are very warm there (79.5F on August 9th). northeast Pacific hurricanes usually track away from the coast, prevailing winds will usually send hurricanes away from California. Though the winds are weird there at the moment; that's why the water is warm. How deep water do hurricanes stir up? Article Crunch41 posted says at 50 m below, the water temperatures are normal for there; it's just a thin layer at the surface. Strong hurricanes bring up deeper water; so they'd weaken a lot if they approach San Diego. Last tropical storm to hit southern California dropped 5.24 inches of rain in one day on Los Angeles en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1939_California_tropical_storm

The heat is over here in Northern Germany since about the 10th August, but nonetheless it is still quite warm with highs in the mid 20s (C) and also nights mostly do not drop below 15 or 16ยฐC. However it became a little more unsettled since then, with afternoon showers appearing nearly everyday.
Also sea temperatures are still quite comfortable with 22-23ยฐC, in last week of July some spots had water temperatures up to 26ยฐC.

I Well we had a โthunderstormโ today: 8-12 rumbles of thunder coming up to half an hour apart and moderate rain for much of the morning and early afternoon. Very lame, but Iโll take anything that resembles a T-storm when weโve only had 5 all year.
The saddest thing is that this was our 2nd best storm this year. And itโs not like weโve been dry, if it was dry almost every day Iโd be fine, but weโre getting plenty of rain but no thunder. Thatโs the worst combination! IMO, any precipitation thatโs not snow, hail or a thunderstorm is useless.
It only got to 78 (26 C) today. Today and yesterday are the first consecutive sub-80 highs since June 19-25!
Tomorrow we could make a run at 90, NWS says 87 (31 C), my phone says 89 (32 C). Since the 6th, our temps have been a complete snoozefest with no highs outside of the 78-84 f range since and nothing else in the 10-day.
July and early August was quite epic, now it seems weโre back to boring, stable, slightly above average summer weather. At least itโs still been warm and weโve had a good amount of dry days, so I canโt complain that much.

Smoke is back in Vancouver. With no rain in the foreseeable future and several new fires ramping up over the past week, the wildfire situation - along with the air quality - is only going to get worse.
The past few months have been fairly dry too; since May 1st, we have had 52.6mm(2.1") of rain.

The duration of the warmth and humidity this summer has been impressive. Can't remember the last time I had to use A/C indoors on such a consistent basis. Temperatures are nothing to write home about, but it's been quite humid. Lot of rain as well with some flooding. Crazy site with cars being washed away from a dealership in Little Falls, NJ. That area is prone to flooding: abc7ny.com/weather/watch-cars-swept-away-by-floodwaters-at-nj-car-dealership/3934917/

Up to 27 90F days on the year, including today. Tied for 12th most on record, with 1959. 9 of those days came in August, most on record is 13. This August has been immense, and both Thursday and Friday are precited to pass 90F too

The east coast is getting all the heat and thunderstorms Only 2 days in the 90s this month and nothing above 84 in the forecast Iโll be very pleased if we can to 20 90s now, weโll be stuck on 17 forever at this rate.

75 F/24 C with a dewpoint of 73 F/23 C at 9PM. This has to be one of the most boring summers in terms of temperatures.
