Rochester is averaging 73.4 so far this August which would be the 10th warmest on record and the 2nd warmest since 1980.
The last few days look mostly warm so we should stay in the top 10.
The average high/low so far is 82.3/64.4, the lows are much more noteworthy.

Don't think we can beat our insane 2016 August, but with this heatwave coming up, I think LGA can finish with its 2nd hottest August ever. August is our anti-March, with a lot of the recent Augusts (2015, 2016, and now 2018) being among the warmest of all time

Stupid clouds kept the temp down, only got to 86 (30 C).
The humidity was really epic though, at one point it was 86 (30 C) with a 76 (24.5 C) dew point for a beat index of 96 (36 c).
The 76 f dew is the 2nd highest this year after July 5th.
Itโll also be at least 6 hours of 74+ (23 C) dews!
I actually donโt the 3 f cooler high for such epic dews.
Better fucking get to 90 tomorrow though, anything sub-94 will be disappointing giving how much of the east coast and New England will be enjoying mid to high 90s.

The temp seems to be over-achieving a lot lately. Got up to 98F when 94F had been forecast. T-storm formed in the area today. I got 0.06", the first measurable precip in over two weeks. Good chances remain over the next couple of days.

This time of year usually has poor setup for hurricanes anyways. I'll be more concerned if it's late August or September and it's still similar. Andโฆ it's more active

Andโฆ it's more active I swear, a TC hit would make this summer go down as the greatest ever, beating out 2010 (hottest) and 2012 (hot + ton of t-storms) in my book. Though our winters have sucked immensely this decade, the 2010โs have delivered incredible summers.

Though we've had a bit of a break. Surprising no flooding earlier in August but there was no single big storm. Downside of this summer is the time we'll get mild and low humidity is gonna be short, we lost our usual summer weather.

Itโs been a wet summer virtually everywhere except Long Island, and I forget about the flooding issue further inland, especially in flood plains. A tropical cyclone would probably be a nightmare for you. And while I do love tropical humidity, Iโm also fond of warm (70โs, 80โs), sunny days with low humidity, but mainly outside of July/August.

Deserved heatwave for the Northeast we already had plenty of heat? tired of this shit. we're running out of time for good summer weather; end of September it'll be too cold; lost a lot of time when we'd normally get mildly warm and not humid weather.

End of September still averages 70F+. If anything, second half of September and first half of October probably have the most "comfortable" weather by traditional defition
End of August is about 5F cooler than mid-July, don't know why people are expecting a massive cooldown this time of year. Especially in a climate notorious for seasonal lag

Got to 92 (33 C) today. This is the 18th 90+ day this year and hopefully not the last.
Itโs been really windy with 40 mph gusts much of the day. Quite unusual to be this windy during heatwaves, also not very common in summer.
