Some random weather (or season) related pictures from the last week. ^ strawberries from our garden! They are still a little pale because of the lack of sun, but they are also much tastier than anything you can find in any store around here ^mum's orchid seems to enjoy the humid weather too. We were given that plant the last September and we were sure that it would have died quickly, instead it is continuing to make new flowers since then! Average weather for the late afternoon in Turin Such a nice weather for walking from my uni to the bus stop (it is about 1Km away) Finally, our fantastic sunsets. The sun hides between the mountain just west of us at about 7:20 pm at the moment, while the sun is still supposed to be quite high in the sky. (Note: in both pictures the shadow part looks darker than how it actually is because of my camera, which struggles with these pictures with really illuminated vs dark areas). ^the top of that mountain is above 3000 m, I don't remember the exact value, while the altitude of the road is of about 550 m in that point. ^the opposite part of the valley, which doesn't have any close mountain on the west side in that point, is still in full sunlight instead.

Isn't the mountain behind which the sun sets the Punta Mulatera?

From earlier this week, a few photos by me from Sogndal, a town near the innermost of Sognefjord, SW Norway. Mountains in all directions around the fjord, climate is less oceanic and with much less precipitation compared to Bergen. Temperature ca 24C that evening at ca 18:00.
This is obviously the place they buy their garden plants
No fishing in the river. Two tractors across the river
Looks dry This town is along a fjord branch, not the main fjord. Snow patches up on the north-facing part of that mountain.

I guess the usual spring dry season was just really extreme this year in Scandinavia.
We only got 1mm of rain though in May after 194mm in April.

Oh, apparently Lombardy poplar is just a cultivar of Black Poplar. Didn't realize they were a southerly species. There are tonnes of them in Umeå and even in Tavelsjö.
Come to think of it, that shape is perfect for a tree around here. Very little wind making it less prone to topple, and the shape is good for low sun angles.

Waiting for the bus in West Vancouver: Nice! The ferry across the Howe Sound looks much more dramatic than the one I took (to tsawwassen ferry dock — bad more sense since I was coming from Victoria, though I did a stopover at one of the Gulf Islands). Cool grocery store? with the goat. My cousin has two goats, they're kinda fun and goofy. Looks like the west side of the Island (Tofino) is a lot more special looking. Though storm clouds are dramatic, hovering right on the mountains of the island. Looks like Howe Sound mountains have the same clouds but without the rain.

I got a big wedge of smoked gouda, marble rye, and finally some Vegemite. I can't find it here anymore, only the shitty Marmite. I've done the Tsawwassen ferry as well. It's also a pain in the ass to get to. Horseshoe Bay is very easy to get to...

This is one of the most menacing clouds I've seen. It has rained on and off today lightly. Maybe up to 5mm in total max. Also, a very small but in real life extremely bright double rainbow. And I swore I could see a third on the inside of the main one. Probably only imagining it. Don't know if inner ones are possible.

Dramatic sky yesterday. Pretty heavy rain considering we were forecast 0.0mm HAHA FUNNY JOKE I GET IT HAHA The yellow dandelion field in Tavelsjö is now white. Another rainbow. Found a pretty cool kind of tree in Tavelsjö I've never seen before. That's rare because the biodiversity here sucks, even among park trees. Don't know what it is. Biking with dog Hedgehog

Nice photos. Your area looks less obviously "northern" — well, cold compared to the part of Newfoundland I visited [posted climate averages on that thread] that has similar averages to Umeå. I need to relook at your older photos, but looks like you have a lot deciduous trees? Newfoundland is mostly conifers, so it felt like a colder climate.
