^^
it was very windy last week. but these birches in particular don't leaf that much even in summer, so maybe it's due to some illness.

Must have been illness, we've had heavy winds, but no trees that look like that.

At least in Turku we have some ebola on almost every tree. Birch rust, ash dieback, maple tar... Probably the cool crummer made it even worse.
The ash fungus is especially nasty. In 2002 it was found in Denmark, then it spread to Sweden, then Latvia and Lithuania. Every time they said that it won't spread this north. And now probably 90% of Turku's ashes have it.

Elms are listed as a severely endangered species in Sweden, but I've never seen one looking particularly unhealthy. Alders however, I've seen a lot of this year with just a few tiny leaves on them even in July. I wonder if it was this year in particular with the horrible snow and -7'C freezes in May.

Nice pics! A lot of brown trees it seems. Either they were completely green or completely brown.

Tavelsjö has started to get a lot of bare trees now. Probably about 40% of all birches are bare or mostly bare there now. Still roses in Tavelsjö though... Pretty... Umeå is still peaking and there are still almost completely green birches. Few trees are bare. And look what a little lamplight does to birches. Proof that our nonexistent sunshine has affected the foliage. No wonder Trondheim is greener.

Some horse race on that green field Razza? Yes, Lommie it's a racecourse It's the oldest racecourse in the country, but before then was a port founded by the Romans. In fact it was a more important port than Liverpool until the river silted up.

Lots of murky mushrooms. Dog enjoys at least. Your fabulously cute dog certainly appears suitable for the latitude it lives on Judging by that fur.

Beautiful pictures everybody! Loving the autumn colors, it feels like I'm living vicariously through your pics. Wish we got that here.
That's one of the main reason I don't take pics that much - the nature/scenery here is boring as fuck.

Proof that our nonexistent sunshine has affected the foliage. No wonder Trondheim is greener. Nice pics! We have some new roses here. A few images from the last days this second week of October in Trondheim Pear tree This is probably Cornus ivory Sunshine and warmth might indeed help the vegetation to be greener here after a nice September. But the length of the growing season is another very important factor, and we have a longer growing season than Umeå. The growing season defines how much of the year can be used by the plants, so it's pretty crucial. Also, some plants are sensitive to very cold temps in winter.

Linköping and some proper autumn now This one's by the river in Norrköping "Motala Stream". Quite a sizeable one as you see Oh and this is from Northern Nyköping today, where overnight lows are cooler at probably 0.4C or something due to the 30 metres elevation as opposed to waterside sea level and being less urban. A few of the trees look way more tired of autumn than the others though Those buildings are Väven's ugly cousin lol. Not that Väven is pretty.

Those buildings are Väven's ugly cousin lol. Not that Väven is pretty. They housed a company called "Atea" in there. No prize for guessing who I thought ran a consulate there
