Rumours that one of the mystery bidders for the club is Russell Crowe. Unlikely, but not as random as it sounds. He has family links to the town and has visited before now, also a big football fan. The investment is also said to be coming from America, where he lives.
My first thought was probably someone along the lines of Robbie Savage, Ian Rush, Craig Bellamy, etc. But I doubt any of those can afford to throw in £2 million like that, which is just the intial investment. And "extremely high profile" is strong language

Gareth Bale looks like he may be relocating his golf career from Madrid to London.

A German football team lost 37-0 because they decided to "socially distance" from their opponents, about like Brazil when their defenders socially distanced from the German attackers in 2014. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-54193770

Bale is at Tottenham's training ground, and Liverpool have sealed the signing of Thiago.
Can't say I've watched Thiago much, but all the pundits are raving about him, possibly the first time Liverpool have signed a player who's considered "world-class", since Fernando Torres, usually we've had to produce them. Allison probably an exception, I think he was considered top class when he was signed.

Alisson was originally a meme, and a lot of Brazilians were angry that the national team put out a goalkeeper of such low quality. He had to spend a few years at Roma for people to realize he was good

I remember when we signed Torres, we were no longer the club who were able to sign that kind of player. Liverpool had a great team but were missing that spark in attack, in his first game at Anfield Torres showed he had that spark, still amazed that side didn't win a title. I think the standard was higher then, they were easily good enough to win by current standards.

I mean Liverpool signed Suarez since then. Suarez was a world-beater during the mid-2010s

I mean Liverpool signed Suarez since then. Suarez was a world-beater during the mid-2010s He was playing for Ajax and was really underrated, despite a great world cup, weird that few considered him world class and Liverpool signed him for about £21 million. Media barely seemed to care about the signing.

Media barely seemed to care about the signing. There’s a lot of pretentiousness towards “World Cup” signings. World Cup can be a great way for players from lesser leagues (like Eredivisie or Ligue 1) to show off their talent

Players in the World Cup can build up a lot of false hype based off a few good games. Not uncommon for teams to bid heavily for them and they don't live up to the hype.

Son Heung-Min became the first Asian player to score 4 goals in the PL. Very impressive Harry Kane’s passing was clinical as well
Mane and Salah seem so similar to each other in playstyle. Must be good for Klopp to have a pretty much symmetrical attack

Thiago has only played 45 minutes and has already broken the Premier Leagues passing record.

It's got to be the weirdest piece of news I've heard in 2020, and that's saying something. Ryan Reynolds is the 2nd highest paid actor in Hollywood and recently sold his gin business for $600 million. Wrexham club shop are already getting season ticket enquiries from North America. It seems it's not a joke, both guys are very serious:
