August was 2-3 degrees warmer than normal and very wet. Milwaukee was only 50% above normal precipitation but Madison had their 8th month ever with more than 10"/250mm. Other parts of the state were in the 15-20 inch range due to several storms dropping huge amounts of rain. A storm near Madison saw unofficial totals of 14 inches. But I already posted about that. The summer overall was warm and wet. Madison was consistently warm, but did not reach 90F. The average dew point was 61F, peak 76F (16 and 24C). Both of those are above normal. Milwaukee was warmer than Madison as usual, and the coldest temperature all month was just 57F/14C. The average dew point was 65.7F/18.7C, much above normal. Peak dew point was 76F as well.

August was a very mixed bag in Saskatoon. The first two and a half weeks of the month had great temperatures, mostly above average with our biggest heat wave in a decade, however it partly ruined by frequent heavy smoke (which likely also robbed us of hitting the 300 hour sunshine mark for the 5th month in a row). And then the rest of the month had an unseasonal cool down with fall-like temperatures. So it was a bit disappointing overall, though with some very epic and memorable moments. Average high: 25.0C (normal: 25.2C) Average low: 9.2C (normal: 11.1C) Highest high: 38.2C (Aug 10th) Highest low: 14.8C (2nd) Lowest high: 13.2C (27th) Lowest low: 1.6C (19th) Precipitation: 17.2mm (normal: 44.4) Precipitation days: 7 (normal: 9) Rainiest day: 9.3mm (3rd) Sunshine hours: 243.7 (normal: 269.6)… thanks, smoke! That's an epic summer there! Lommaren did you make a Umeå 2018 weatherbox?

Omfg...Madison has been perfect this year...fuck! That warm-up between April and May looks really unrealistic though.

Additional bonus for Babu, Stockholm being 6.1°C above subarctic this year! Absolutely incredible.

Nice, thank you. That February and March are such fucking ulcers on an otherwise legendary year. September is looking to be above average as well.

Örebro even higher above subarctic than Stockholm was at 16.3°C for the year's fourth warmest month. Almost 29°C highs for July. Stunning. As usual with Örebro though, it's very prone to a rapid cool-down in August, being a bit inland and at a higher latitude than Norrköping. I assume this might be Babu's most favourite summer in Sweden this year?

Not gonna lie, I'm a bit salty about Saskatoon reaching 100F, while here it only reached 98F

I have a feeling that trying to be accurate while dealing with this disparity would be more triggering. Mind you, these two stations are only 20km apart and only 75m different in elevation.

April was 9.0F/5.0C below normal and 0.1F from the record that was set in 1875. May was 8th warmest and 2nd wettest, with summer weather most of the month. +7.2F/4.0C, +6.23"/158mm. Normal April is 57/36F, May 68/46F (14/2 and 20/8C). Spring didn't happen this year.
Edit: Green Bay was more extreme 36" snow to 97F in a month.

There were some nasty temperature errors at the lower station (1,228 m AMSL), so I've taken them from the Vulcan Slaughter Yards AWS instead (which is much higher—1,277 m AMSL); seems much more accurate for this altitude than its alternative station: Note: Forgot to alter record low temperatures from January to April...can't be buggered to redo the climate box

Some more Swedish stations of interest here Babu : Arvika's absurd summer highs stick out, as well as the sudden August cooldown in the inland area with no sea around it. Also, look at how stable the highs in February were: merely a 3.7°C deviation between the mean high and the record high! Kiruna was very... 67°N-ish about its heatwave: Lund has stayed very consistent, unsurprisingly enough, warm in both June and August and with highs well above 30°C this summer with a significant reversal of the drought trend during August:

January through March sucks though.

coldest summer there since 1993. Looked like only slightly below from the normal, that shows a good example how ridiculous the weather pattern has been biased toward getting warmer and warmer in the past decades.

Good July and August. Obviouslt very good May for being there. March is awful though, and April isn't great.
