Our max so far today has only been 34°F (1°C), and it’s been cloudy all day with our first snow just beginning to fall.
First of all, what in the almost-ice day hell is going on, we haven’t had a max in the 30’s yet (until now) and only 3 maxes in the 40’s this entire fall so far. Colder than the dead of winter, 20-something degrees below normal. I had to buy a hat this afternoon, I haven’t worn one since like March.

Low was 41F (5C) this morning. Headed up to 72F (22C) today.
Not terrible I guess.

Yesterday’s snow total ended up at 2.6” (6 cm), nice fall for mid November.
Still an inch or so left on the ground. Hasn’t passed 31 (-1 C) yet today, maybe our first ice day...

snowy day in the Northeast; temperatures barely above freezing morning started very cold for New England except for coast Connecticut. Boston hadn't even gotten a freeze for the season until yesterday

Today was quite gloomy. It was supposed to be sunny and 15°C, but the high barely scraped the 10°C mark as fog/drizzle went on all day long. RH didn't drop below 98% and visibility has been poor throughout the daylight hours. Currently 200 m @ Orly airport, but higher in town. That is proper November weather!

more snow than expected. from NWS New York forecast discussion:
A 1009 mb low was analyzed along the SE NC coast. This low will track up the coast today as high pressure drifts towards the Canadian Maritimes, then over or just off Long Island Fri AM, and past Cape Cod by Fri aftn.
Significant update based on latest radar trend snowing hand of heavier precip developing from DC metro to southern NJ, which high resolution guidance including the NAM/HRRR/RAP bring into the area during late afternoon and earlier evening. Despite easterly flow, temps upstream along the south coast of New England were in the mid 30s with dewpoints in the lower 20s, so do not expect too much in the way of maritime moderation at least into this evening. So the overall trend is for colder and snowier going into early this evening. NAM may be a bit too cold in the blyr, but we also started out the day with lower dewpoints and so greater potential for temps to crash close to freezing with onset of steady precip this afternoon. Period of steady snow looks to be heavier and of longer duration than initially expected, and warmer air aloft does not look to make it in until about 23Z-00Z around NYC, and to interior sections til late evening.
With the above in mind, issued winter storm warnings for the interior where snowfall amounts have been bumped up into the 4-8 inch range, and winter wx advisories have been extended into NYC and Long Island for 2-5 inch snowfall, with the higher amounts generally farther away from the immediate coast. Also bumped up amts along the CT coastline, and the coastal zones could see some 6-inch amounts north of I-95. Timing of snow in most places should cause significant disruptions to the evening commute.

Up to 0.36” (9 mm) of precipitation, probably means at least 3-4” of snow so far. More on the way!
Beautiful winter scene outside, snow still coming down hard.

Can you imagine what the North Atlantic must be like right now? How did ocean liners in the late 19th and early 20th centuries deal with this kind of weather?

That Newfoundland storm makes the Northeast snowstorm look tiny. NYC got 6 inches from the storm wind started picking up. Dewpoint above freezing just light rain from www.wrh.noaa.gov/map/

We got probably about 2 to 3 inches. The rain has washed away a lot of it. Still plenty of snow patches though
