Temperatures across the country at 8am eastern this morning (not lows) What a strange airmass, only 10 degrees cooler in Boston than Miami and Jacksonville is colder than Boston

4.2โ (10 cm) of snow fell yesterday, bringing us up to 17.4โ (44 cm) for the month!
This is now the snowiest November since 1997 and the 11th snowiest overall.
The 3 days with >4โ of snow is T-most for November (with 1886).
Through 27 days, it is the coldest November since 1996 although only T-17th coldest overall.
This has been an amazing November so far, just wish there was more variability and less cold rain.

I'm sure both New Yorkers and Floridians appreciate that

nice surf out west. Must be nice to have a break from monotonously blue skies in California

wet week in downstate NY; two heavy rainstorms led to almost 3 inches of rain in a week; very muddy ground

What a strange airmass, only 10 degrees cooler in Boston than Miami and Jacksonville is colder than Boston Always fun when Northeast records higher temperatures than Florida in winter. I'm sure both New Yorkers and Floridians appreciate that weirdly, 850 hPa show the Northeast much colder than the south maybe being on the east side of the airmass there was mild air at the surface? Usually, if the south is as cold as us they're under a cold airmass. surface temperatures from the same time: Yea, Jacksonville had a strong inversion: 1.0ยฐC at the surface, warmed up going higher, 850 mb was 8.4ยฐC. NYC was more normal, 3.4ยฐC at the surface cooler above, -4.3ยฐC weather.uwyo.edu/upperair/sounding.htmlreally strong radiational cooling? some cold air from previous days trapped? Good example of when the surface and 850 mb are doing something completely different
