This fall has been an absolute shitshow so far over much of the west. Glad to see the east is finally seeing some cold/snow, you guys really deserve it after the past decade. We've had tons of really cold winters over the past decade though, including *gulp* 14/15. And this year looks to be even worse than that one 14/15 mustve been the most mild and shitty winter i've experienced anywhere.

Interesting but horrible year I enjoyed the May-October period, but aside from that it has been a rather horrible year. March, April, and now November are among the worst months here that I can ever recall Enjoyed some of February for mild, sunny dry weather and then early March for the snow. January was either horribly cold, or a lot of rain then ice. April way too cold, May mediocre but I was away for a lot of it, so hard for me to judge. June was enjoyable. July to September mostly too steamy, even if the constant storms were exciting, eventually got old. And then it got cold. This year was bad for shoulder season weather.

What is that glass skyscraper towering over the Pyramid? Seems like new construction[/quote] Think it's Salesforce Tower, finished this year. Just over 1000 feet, over 200 feet taller than the previous taller building in San Francisco. Street level goo.gl/maps/xomRADkE6z12

February was nice, I agree. March was disastrous, ridiculously stable and boring and cloudy. Overall a terrible year for shoulder season weather, you're correct. 2015, 2016, 2017 all had shitty springs but falls had beautiful weather with a smooth transition to cold

Snowstorms were a bigger deal in northern New England; mostly missed me (and you?). But yea, was dreary in between. 2016 had a long cold stretch mid-autumn just not as bad as this one, and September 2016 wasn't sticky so good fall weather. 2015 had a cold snap mid-October but then returned to mild. Felt like I got better photos this winter than most others. March in Amherst was about average but had cold at the end, think it was worse in Binghamton.

The last month has been consistently below average where I am. Really stable. Usually there is some warm and some cold mixed in. The past week or two have been stuck in the 30s for highs, which is an annoying range. Cold, but not cold enough to keep the little bit of snow that fell so far except for the piles.
Edit: At least I'm not on fire. Or stuck in endless drizzle.

Forecast discussion for California's Central Valley says smoke holding down temperatures
Dry with near normal daytime temperatures and cool nights with heavy smoke due to the Camp Wildfire. Breezy northeasterly winds over the Sierra Nevada Saturday night into Sunday bringing critical fire conditions. Cooler temperatures next week with a series of wet systems through the middle to end of next week.
&&
.DISCUSSION... High pressure ridge over the region is continuing pattern of light winds, smoke with poor visibility and air quality for much of the area. The smoke is keeping temperatures below normal blocking heating from the sun during the day and allowing heat to escape at night, unlike cloud cover. This brought a cold start in the Valley, with lows down as lows as the upper 20s and lower 30s. This is about 10 degrees below normal for this time of year. Highs this afternoon will be a little below normal in smoke covered areas, near to a little above normal in the mountains above the smoke. Evacuees from the Camp Fire should prepare for another cold night and morning. Saturday during the day should be about the same as today.

January, February, May, July and September were really epic.
June and August were pretty good.
October was half great, half terrible.
March and April were horrific.

To think I thought 2002-03, 2005-06 or 2009-10 were the shittiest winters ever. 2014-15 was just on another level.๐

Yeah March in NE seemed about average...in Binghamton it was completely horrendous with 35/25 wank on repeat for weeks. It wasn't as cold as Marches 2014 or 2015, but felt every bit as devastating

Low of -23.0C yesterday in Saskatoon, our coldest temperature of the month so far, and it was -22C earlier this morning. This is likely going to end up a below average month even with the brief warmup next week.

We had 7 days straight of highs below 60F (15.6C)! That also happened in mid-November 2014.
Got up to 68F yesterday which is about normal and similar highs this weekend. Sunny with low humidity. It got down to 39F last night.

The week after next may be on the warm side. Looking like the cold should return east of the Rockies for first half of December; hopefully it extends further south than this forecast shows.

Still unseasonably hot over the past week. Had a little rain yesterday and some more today (20+ mm at DMK airport):

The week after next may be on the warm side. A pretty big change from yesterday in the 8-14 day forecast, lol. Wouldn't be surprised if it trends colder than that. This is what the Canadian model shows the morning of Nov 28!

5.8/-0.4ยฐC and rather windy today, nice.
Maybe a layer tommorrow? Temps a tad too warm and low intensity should prevent it imho.
