October leaped precisely 10° C from August in terms of maximums—in just two months. The October maximum average, indeed, was severely hindered by the early polar attack which gave me 7° C maximums and even a sleet shower by late watches; that is what the single snowy day represents...keep in mind that sleet in AU means wet snowfall, so it definately counts. Very drizzly, too!

24-hr mean in Norway (inhabited places mainland) varied from 10.1°C at Færder to -1.9°C in Karasjok.
Precip varied from 10 mm (Dividalen) to 824.4 mm (Gullfjellet, 345 m).
So Karasjok had October temps like a January here, and Gullfjellet had Oct precip like annual precipitation here.

October in Malta came in around average, with cooler highs & warmer lows. Rainfall was well above average & we had more than double the average thunderstorms, in what is the most active month of the year. Sunshine was a little below average. Stats from my PWS in St. Paul's Bay Average High: 24.8C (-0.6C) Average Low: 20.9C (+0.2C) Overall Mean: 22.9C (-0.2C) Highest Max: 27.2C (29th) Lowest Min: 17.4C (31st) Lowest Max: 21.4C (31st) Highest Min: 23.9C (29th) Rainfall: 166.3mm (215%) Days with Rain: 16 Max Rain in Day: 38.6mm (13th) Days with Thunder: 13 Sunshine: 198.0hrs (90%) Max UV: 5.7 Min UV: 3.8

Updated box. Look at April and May, and then at September and October. It seems that stretched seasons with extremely fast transitions are 2018's thing. The big precipitation discrepancies have finally come to an end: Storms finally stopped breaking into little pieces, and those little pieces stopped stalling over MCI. This is the 2nd-wettest October ever recorded. All the more remarkable considering 9.80 of those 10.76 inches of rain fell during just four days (6-7-8-9) in a single enormous storm. As a side note, these recurring cycle theories generally claim October 6 as the start date of a new cycle. This obviously has enormous potential for confirmation bias, but I think it's noteworthy that the thing that repeatedly happened with every single storm (shattering into tiny bits upon reaching the area around Topeka, then re-strengthening east of KC) all through most of the year suddenly didn't happen on that very day.

This month finished at +1.7F above average, thanks mostly due to the very warm lows. Average highs were only +0.5F, but the lows were a solid 3F above average! October now hasn't been below average in 9 years (!!!) Also to note is that October was 10.4F warmer than April. Goodness
