During the 11-17 April week Tampere's average high is 8.2C. I know Lommaren wasn't referring to it, just mentioning for common comparison. For the 18-24 April period the high rises to 11C, so I would say it's quite seasonable. Yes, absolutely, I didn't refer to lower Finland since it's absolutely nothing extreme of any type there. The Bothnian Bay is a sharp dividing line between unseasonal (+2°C) and merely seasonal temps in that forecast. Why I refered to Ålesund and Trondheim as unseasonably warm in particular also is part of a seasonal explosion from the winter temperatures experienced in the late March forecast only a couple of weeks ago, to go from way below average to a bit above average in that short space of time is certainly an interesting weather phenomenon, and it appears to be rather common in Scandinavia. Usually, above-average swings are delayed to May after an Arctic March however (think 2013), that's what makes the turn of events in Ålesund and Trondheim so interesting.

Turku had a 2C high on 2 April, on Saturday it might well be 15C.

When you compare it to how the likes of Verkhoyansk etc look almost hospitable by this time of year it's hard to believe anybody chooses to live in Barrow with this polar climate. You can't even buy a beer there either!

Europe above 61°N (15 Apr-21 Apr):
Arkhangelsk: 5/-5 Bodø: 10/6 Faroe Islands: 10/7 Jyväskylä: 14/2
Kautokeino: 8/-3 Kiruna: 9/-1 Kuusamo: 8/-2 Lillehammer: 17/4
Luleå: 10/1 Murmansk: 4/-1 Oulu: 8/-0 Petrozavodsk: 9/0
Reykjavík: 9/6 Rovaniemi: 10/0 Røst: 9/5 Skellefteå: 13/2
Sundsvall: 14/2 Tampere: 13/3 Tromsø: 9/3 Trondheim: 15/7
Umeå: 11/2 Vorkuta: -10/-16 Ålesund: 15/8 Östersund: 13/4
We'll see how far the warm airmass will reach but if Lillehammer would have 17°C forecast as avg high the coming week, then that'd bode very well for my location. It's still weaker warmup forecast east of the Bothnian Bay though, but the Finnish locations are still above average.

Eureka never ceases to amaze me this time of year. 24-hour daylight with consistent below -20 C temps. The sun angle is still weak though, peaks at about 20 degrees. Heavy ice cover, lowish sun angle can keep things cold despite perpetual daylight.
