The short but sweet summer has disappeared, at least for Belaya Gora: Winter continues in Grytviken, albeit not as cold as June-July was:

Might be the first snow flurries of the winter coming up in Oymyakon They average no snow days in August according to Wiki, not sure I believe it though.

knot yeah, quite astounding to see a forecast high of -9C/15F here. I thought they were done with the cold for the winter.

Eww. Don't know if they're prone to stuck weather patterns up there but they seem to get a lot of forecasts where it's raining every single day, it's a wet climate alright but not much wetter than where I live.

The weather in this Siberian metropolis will be quite poor. And Yakutsk; it's better, though

This place isn't actually any colder than you'd expect for the coldest city in European Russia but it must have the worst sun times on the planet for a place where people actually live. On 15 December before polar night the sun will set at 10:57, and since they don't have summer time their last sunrise before midnight sun is at 22:55.

Solar noon is around 10:30 am there. This map is wrong for Vorkuta, but it seems like uninhabited eastern Greenland would have the earliest solar noon if anybody lived there. Green is early and red is late. The latest should be far western China, which is something I've read about before. Argentina is pretty late too. www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/az45nh/difference_between_solar_time_and_standard_time/For late sunsets, I know Nome (western Alaska) has some sunrises after 12pm local time. Despite being at 64.5N, the earliest sunset is around 4pm.

In far western China in winter, the sun rises at 10am and sets at about 6:45pm.

I checked Oymyakon's high for today and it was actually "only" 7.6C, which is still a record high for the date. The record high for the 14th is only 3.1C so that will probably go as well. Their averages in mid-October are already down to -9/-20!

6.7C in Oymyakon today, which is another record high for the date. The latest forecast for tomorrow gives 0C and the record high for the 15th is 0.4C, so there's still a chance of three records in a row.
The last two days have been 16-17C above average!
