Failbruary 2019 Crummary, Aeropuerto De RenmakA pov month, below average despite a 44C day and a hot few days at the end. Lows were idiotically cold, infact not a single low over 20C , here in high summer. Fucken hell. Not a single storm to add insult to injury. Boring, lackluster pooftiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime. January didn't have a single storm either, but was legendary and exciting in its heat. This was a garden variety run off the mill watch paint dry watch grass grow watch the Christian Channel borefest. Like Povember, Failbruary now takes pride of place on my toilet roll holder. But I hear you say "but Beercules, 32.6C is a very respectable summer high". Well, yes, but coming off that January and ofcourse the absolute buttcrack lack of anything even remotely interesting, one gets jaded and pissed. Anomolies: Avg High: -0.2C Avg Low: -1.9C Rainfall: -18.1mm

The website I usually get my data from isn't giving me full data at the moment, so here's this for Bingley: A wintry start (actually the only lying snow we've had all year), but quickly warming up into typical March, April and even May weather. The week from the 21st-27th saw almost unbroken sunshine and a warm spell that was completely off the scale compared to anything ever seen at this time of year, it wouldn't surprise me if I never saw anything like that again in my lifetime. Rainfall was just over half of average - it's been a very dry winter overall with nothing like as much mud as typical for the time of year - and sunshine was probably just under 100 hours judging by what other nearby places got, which is close to a record high. It basically felt like a spring month.

Apparently SMHI retroactively changed some readings in January for Umeå making the January average almost a degree colder. (It was -4.4/-14.7) All means are the SMHI method. For Umeå it was 0.9'C warmer than the max/min mean, and for Lund it was 0.5 colder than using the max/min method (4.4'C) Deviations vs Umeå 90-17 Highs: +1.8 Lows: -0.9 Precipitation: 117% (vs 61-90) Sunshine: 111% (vs 02-16) So, despite the two legendary heatwaves in Umeå with 9 days above 6'C(!!), the month turned out very average in every way imaginable. Slightly colder record low and a warmer record high by about 3 degrees compared to the average. Lund missed out on a February record. Malmö managed to record a 14.1, beating their previous record by 1.6'C, but Lund only managed a 13.2'C vs their 14.0 record. Compared to 91-17: Highs: +3.8 Lows: +3.1 Precipitation (vs 61-90): 133% Sunshine (vs 02-15): 140% Lund had a much more abnormal month than Umeå with temperatures quite significantly above average (though the SMHI mean was still 2.5'C off the record and you "only" have to go back to 2008 to find a warmer February), as well as sunshine and precipitation both being significantly above average. A pretty epic start to 2019 there. Okay start for Umeå.

Suburban Bangkok (Bang Na Agromet site) -------------------------------------------------- Average max: 33.5 C Highest max: 35.3 C Lowest max: 32.1 C Average min: 25.8 C Lowest min: 24.1 C Highest min: 27.3 C Rain: 0.0 mm Hot month with ZERO rainfall. I believe this is the first zero rainfall month I've ever experienced. This is after last month's 1.6 mm, starting to miss rain. Still, there was a trace amount here on one day. Very consistent temps with only about a 3 C difference between the highest and lowest highs / lows. And pretty hot, too. In fact, last year only three months had a higher mean temp (four in 2017).

I checked a few dozen stations in Norway and from what I could see, Ålesund IV was the warmest with 8.8/2.8 and a 5.4'C 24h mean. Very impressive but far from record breaking in the city area. While that particular station hasn't had a warmer February, it's only been active for about a decade, and a lot of the other stations in the area were warmer in both 2014 and 2015 (although Ålesund IV wasn't)
