This one takes the cake, I think Fucking hell. Canada's countrywide record high is 113 F (45 C), this would shatter all records. Insane shit. I love it... too bad I have to work otherwise I would love to drive out to Kamloops and the rest of the Okanagan Valley to experience those temps

Anyone familiar with the behaviour of models regarding PNW heatwaves? Modeled temperatures look over the top, while official sources seem a bit conservative. Which one will be “winning” this?

The models are overdoing it. The only question is...how much? Anyway...looking hot in these two familiar places. I'll be in Squamish tomorrow evening.

I am a cold lover but the climate here is so boring, so I am looking forward to any heat we can get. I do have a feeling that the models are overdoing it a bit though. That's just their tendency in any situation whether it is a cold blast or heat wave. Yeah will have to see if any all time records fall. YVR's all time record is only 34C, so even if the models are overdoing it a bit, it could be in jeopardy. Environment Canada has Vancouver only getting up to 31C.

Environment Canada has Vancouver only getting up to 31C. That's at YVR (the airport right next to the ocean). Terrible representation of the region, especially during heatwaves. It can be 33-34c in the city and up to 36-37c in the eastern suburbs while the Vancouver station is sitting at a comfortable 28c with a NW breeze off the water.

Environment Canada has Vancouver only getting up to 31C. I really hope they are wrong. I would love to see the all time record broken at YVR. Monday will likely be the only day that exceeds 30c at YVR. Winds should shift offshore then. If winds remain out of the NW there's no way YVR even challenges the record. Records will likely fall in Vancouver proper, the eastern suburbs (YPK - Pitt Meadows) and Fraser Valley (YXX - Abbotsford) though. Temps likely 36-40c on Sunday and Monday.

Let's hope there is an offshore flow to keep marine influence at a minimum. Either way I'll try to head a bit inland to experience a bit more heat on both days. Love this so much

48c/49c isn't going to happen and high res models aren't even showing Kamloops to be the hotspot in BC. The Thompson river valley further south, between Kamloops and Lytton could realistically see temps between 44c and 48c on Monday.

Oh yes, I highly doubt that 120 F (48.9 C) will actually happen, but just the fact it's in the forecast is fucking crazy. 44-48 C is insane regardless for BC. We'll see what happens, crazy heat wave!

Jask in Iran reported a few days with 34.0C dews (93F) a few weeks ago. Siri Island had some in the 33's. 34 is only 1 degree off the world record of 35C/95F. It doesn't look like a one-off humid day. It's every day.
This place has come up before and so have a few others, such as Sirri Island and Khasab.
I'm sweating just looking at it. Here's a few days in early August.
T=temp, Td=dew point, ff = wind
A longer stretch showing another 34 reading: www.ogimet.com/cgi-bin/gsynres?ind=40893&decoded=yes&ndays=5&ano=2021&mes=08&day=04&hora=00
Sirri Island is a station in the same region. It's an actual island while Jask is a peninsula. So Sirri has even warmer lows. Just constant red on the screen. 38/32, every single day, as you slowly go insane and start thinking "Vostok sounds like a good place to live".
Today is August 25th. Their last time below 32C (90F) was July 7th.
Their last time below 30C (86F) was all the way back on June 11th. In this period the warmest was 39.2
