Some quick maps of the temperatures at 6 pm around here and my former place In the circles some reference points: Lyon (39.6°C), the closest weather station to my place in Grenoble (38.2°C), Chambéry (34.5°C), Turin city center (38.6°C) and Aosta (40.1°C !) Dew point in the same area and same moment: Focus on my valley (it was very warm also up on the mountains) More general map of my home region in Italy: I read that the June record high for the Torino Caselle weather station (the official one for Turin) was surpassed in the afternoon, the old record was 35.6°C at the temp was already above 36°C in the middle of the afternoon. The all time record would be of just 37.1°C, and right now the measurements are extremely close to it. Several smaller stations surely had some record this time (either monthly or all-time), I just don't have the time for check other stations now.

A step down from the Po plain, but impressive humidity today in the Loire valley, 150 km south of Paris. 98 °F coupled with a 76°F dew point at 6 pm in Romorantin for example, yielding a 112 heat index. Utterly impressive for the northern half of France. www.infoclimat.fr/observations-meteo/temps-reel/romorantin-pruniers/07247.htmlI'm pissed off as that heat is so close, yet so far. This with the highest ever 850 mb temps ever recorded over Paris. Fuck his NE wind. And 28.9°C a 850 hPa over Bordeaux today! Even where it's very hot dews aren't far off the 20°C mark: www.infoclimat.fr/observations-meteo/temps-reel/carpentras/07586.htmlFor me the most impressive value so far is La Rochelle's absolute record, at 40.5°C (105°F), right next to the Altantic coast! Humidex map for the lulz

First 90 here. Yesterday came close at 89.
Every NYC site, ASOS and Mesonet, hit at least 90, except....*drum roll* Central Park, NYC’s “official” weather station....with contaminated measurements.

High reached a scorching 86F today, the hottest day in 298 days for me. Absolutely miserable temperatures IMO . Heading to the Northern PA mountains tomorrow to escape the heat. Will only reach the upper 70s there tomorrow and this weekend

Awesome summer day today, hit 95 F (35 C) and we had quite the thunderstorm from 5:30 until 6:45 pm or so with high winds that knocked some branches down, heavy rainfall (about an inch of rain recorded), very frequent and close lightning strikes and even some hail. Fucking ideal summer weather today. Tomorrow looks similar, with a high of 94 F (34 C) predicted with a 40% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Loving it.

Looks like no summer weather for the next while in the PNW. Cool and cloudy/showery. Hoping for at least a few weeks around/above 30C in late July or August.

Got to 86 (30 C) again today, less humid then yesterday with dews in the 50s.
Very nice night, still 74 (23 C) at 10 PM.
Tomorrow could make a (very unlikely) run at 90. At least it should be in the upper 80s again.
Better late than never for heat.

Multiple places in Northern France, pretty much on the English Channel, that are currently around 35C, with dew points between 25-27C! That's fucking insane, and has absolutely 100% never happened in this country. That little channel of water makes a huge difference during heatwaves between the continent and the UK.

What really strikes me is the extent of those temps. About two thirds of the country is above 90f, a third is above 95f, and ~15% of the country is above 100f. Most notably there's a whole swath of area to the west of marseille that's baking in 110+.

Multiple places in Northern France, pretty much on the English Channel, that are currently around 35C, with dew points between 25-27C! That's fucking insane, and has absolutely 100% never happened in this country. That little channel of water makes a huge difference during heatwaves between the continent and the UK. The reason for these insane dews is the unprecedented 850 mbar temps. With such warm mid-layer temps, the temperature gradient between the ground and the higher parts of the atmosphere is much less, and there's less convection, hence less dry altitude air mixing in. Because, damn, a 26.7°C dew point in Brittany, of all places, is fucking difficult to believe in. And a 34.6°C air temp / 25.7°C dew point combo (heat index of 44) on hour earlier. This is seriously fucked up for Rennes. www.infoclimat.fr/observations-meteo/archives/28/juin/2019/rennes-st-jacques/07130.htmlThis is as impressive, or maybe even more, than the new national heat record of 45.9°C. Even down there in Provence, some unusual dew point / air temp combos have been recorded before the gates of hell opened. For example in Carpentras with 40.7/20.8°C (heat index of 46): www.infoclimat.fr/observations-meteo/archives/28/juin/2019/carpentras/07586.htmlAnd look at this sultry night right on the shores of the Mediterranean. 33°C+ @ 4 am: www.infoclimat.fr/observations-meteo/temps-reel/cap-bear-port-vendres/07749.htmlAnd the sheer epicness of this map from yesterday. Infoclimat's color range is off lol:

So the 46.1C seen on the map wasn't accepted rozenn?

The huge problem with Infoclimat's maps is that it displays readings from the official Météo France stations as well as those of the amateur StatIC network. They gotta be approved by Infoclimat with pictures, plans and whatnot and can be every bit as reliable as official WS from the secondary network, but well they're not regularly checked by professionals and I'm skeptical of some of the RH measurements posted on there. That particular 46.1°C reading was from one of those stations.
