All-time records set to fall here in France with 106F (41C) forecast for Paris. How long are you staying in Paris? I’m not, I’m going to be staying in Metz.

So.....we DID end up hitting 100 F (38 C) today! w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KIAD.htmlAlso we just got hit with an awesome storm, driving rain with (possibly) 60 mph gusts, snapped a branch right off a big tree in front of my apartment, a shitload of lightning and even some hail. What a fucking awesome summer day.

Severe flash flooding happened right near me. 4.3" radar estimated rainfall fell in 2 hours in murrysville PA. Unreal damage. I had to go roundabout ways to work avoiding all valleys in my area. 2.2" in my gauge, which is a ton but clearly not 4"+. I'm closing in on 40" of precip this year already which is close to my annual average with 5 months to go.

Jesus Christ. And this isn't even the first flash flooding event. Insane.

I've been crushed with so many severe flooding events this year it's honestly quite remarkable. Climate change is transforming my region into a temperate rainforest. It may be my third straight year of 55"+ of precip

95 F here at noon, which is a degree ahead of what it was at noon yesterday. Hopefully we don't get another bullshit inexplicable drop in temperatures, we have a real shot at 100 F.Warm overnight lows last night, 75 F at Dulles, 81 F at Reagan. A bit cooler than predicted, but a sultry night nonetheless. Looks like the inner harbor station in Baltimore hit 100 F yesterday: w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KDMH.htmlThat’s exactly what happened here yesterday, clouded up twice during prime heating hours which took the wind out of our sail, I topped out at 98F again and 99F at the airport, definitely would’ve topped 100F if it weren’t for the clouds. The real story though was the heat index, which was higher than Snoop Dogg well into the night, clouds or no clouds.

We almost got bullshitted on again on Sunday, but it actually did end up hitting 100 F Was at 97 F at 1 pm, dropped to 96 F at 2 pm but then shot up to 99 F at 3 pm (100 F occurred between the 3 and 4 pm OBS). Peak heat indices were in the 110-114 F range in the area. Yesterday (Monday, July 22nd) got much warmer than predicted, predicted high was 91 F and it ended up hitting 95 F and we got two short-lived but strong thunderstorms at about 3 pm and again around 4:30 pm. This morning is nice and benign at 69 F and cloudy, got some overnight rain.

Updated July averages after the heat wave (as of July 22nd):
Dulles: 91.8/68.5 (33.2/20.3) (87.9/65.4); 3.5 F (1.9 C) above average Reagan Airport: 91.5/74.1 (33.1/23.4) (88.5/71.0); 3.1 F (1.7 C) above average Winchester: 92.5/69.0 (33.3/20.6) (85.5/65.1); 5.4 F (3.0 C) above average Baltimore Area: 92.1/70.7 (33.4/21.5) (87.3/66.8); 4.3 F (2.4 C) above average Baltimore Downtown: 93.1/74.9 (33.9/23.8) (89.2/72.5); 3.1 F (1.7 C) above average
So quite the warm July so far! Though the anomalies are set to decline a bit from today on wards, as the forecast looks rather benign for the most part (highs of 80-86 F/27-30 C and lows of 60-65 F/16-18 C predicted).

A couple of nice t-storms in the area yesterday afternoon and evening though of course I didn't get anything from them. I got 0.73" of rain overnight but I don't think it was accompanied by thunder... Feels nice this afternoon after frontal passage. 85F with DP of 64F at 5 PM. Forecast low of just 64F tonight! Pic I took of storm clouds yesterday afternoon.

We went from 12 F above average in daily high (100 F) on Sunday to 12 F below average (76 F) for today, nice summer variability.
Gonna have a seasonably cool night tonight, low predicted at 62 F (16.7 C), tomorrow night has a 60 F (15.6 C) low predicted, so we may see 50s on Thursday morning.
Seven-day forecast looking quite warm again towards the end of the forecast, highs in the lower 90s predicted.
