alex992 I agree, that is an error. Also, what is "sky obscured"? Near the bottom.

"Sky obscured" is reported when the measuring equipment cannot get a reading of the current cloud cover. Sometimes it might also be an indication of thick smog, smoke or fog.

Coldest night of the season last night with -6.5'C at the airport and a whopping -5'C at the uni rooftop station. First hard freeze of the season for the city center and there's ice in shaded puddles and even in the center square there's some frost in shaded areas at noon. It's about 80% bare outside the center, and even though the roadside birches in the center are fully yellow and green, that's gonna change very quickly now.
Going to the rapids today again, so we'll see how much foliage there's left outside the city.

This is officially the lamest storm season ever in Paris. Promising radar earlier today: Healthy dose of water in this town Neat rain shaft

Another day with big diurnals expected today, with sunny skies and a high of 70 F (21.1 C) predicted. We're getting some rain tonight from the next cold front coming in.

Quite impressive amounts of rain between Genoa and Savona (the map is referred to 24 h, but the most felt after midnight). After works I will look for more details, but the little I read talks about floods etc...

Rochester has had a really nice stretch of fall weather lately:
65/42 sunny 64/38 sunny 65/39 sunny 71/39 sunny 58/40 rain 67/37 sunny 54/43 cloudy 61/39 sunny
Couldnβt get much better for mid October.
Weather in NYC was nice, days were in the upper 60s and had a mix of sun and clouds.
Next week looks cooler and wetter before a shot at 70 next weekend.

Any mud slides in the mountains?

Here is the NWS summary of the blizzard in North Dakota last week. Snow and wind reports, a video of radar, and a text discussion. alex992 Text discussion: This is the first paragraph, for the rest, and weather charts, see the Environment page on the link. Through the day on October 9th meteorologist across the country were monitoring an upper level wave as it moved southeastward into the northwest United States (Figures 1 and 2). Ahead of this wave was was a pocket of unseasonably cold low-level air (Figures 4 and 5). As the upper level wave move over the Rocky mountains, west-to-east winds induced lee cyclogenesis over the Denver, CO region. Falling surface and low level pressure in Colorado induced northerly winds across the northern Plains that helped drag the cold low level air southward along the lee of the Rocky mountains. Locally, this colder air moved southeastward through North Dakota behind a notable cold front. Although there was little precipitation as the cold front passed through, many locations reported thick cloud cover and fog as warmer air was lifted over the shallow layer of colder air pushed through. By Wednesday night, the cold front had stalled out from southeast North Dakota into north central Minnesota (this can be see early in the loop in Figure 6). Pictures: Snow totals. The highest recorded total was 29". Cavalier, the city with the webcam, saw 20". Webcam: www.earthcam.com/usa/northdakota/cavalier/?cam=cavalierMaximum wind gusts. The highest recorded was 61mph. This storm had wet snow, so it didn't blow around as much as dry snow. Still, this is enough wind to make large drifts, see the pictures for some. A car stuck in the ditch, under the water. It's fine... Snow drifts. They need a bigger snow blower. More snow:
The area is mostly agricultural, so farmers are having issues with the rainfall and flooding. Some parts of the area have seen over 10"/250mm in the past month, and now there is snow on top of the mud, making it really hard to drive on the fields. The area near Grand Forks is very flat and has flooding issues in spring, this year it has flooding in the fall too.
