A few more Saskatoon and surrounding are over the past few days... the river is almost totally frozen outside the city and about half frozen in the city (which is as much as it gets - the power plant on the edge of town keeps the western half of the river warm enough to not freeze, even in the coldest winters I've seen).

Sorry, for some reason I can't figure out how to create a spoiler. I tried doing what Angler posted in the technical thread but I can't get it to work.

A beautiful solstice day here in Torshavn. I don't think I'll turn the lights off at all today.

Jeez how sad. Fortunately there were no deaths, or even injuries in the Alexandria area. For the most part, it missed more heavily populated areas. There was one fatality early in that tornado's path (it had a 62 mile long track). A woman that was attempting to leave her mobile home. This tornado was part of a wider outbreak that spawned 48 tornadoes across LA, MS, and AL.

Some pictures from the warmest Xmas I can remember (and also a textbook example of foehn wind day). (Temps, RH% and wind speed data reported in here) ^ the wind was quite strong in some moments... and quite warm, too Completely clear sky too:

Only about 5cm of snow on the ground with none on the trees. Right outside the city though, and as soon as you get like 50m ASL, there's a bunch of snow on the trees.

Trondheim Christmas Christmas Eve up at ~500 m ASL in the Western city hills near skistua. Temps ~ -5C
Some valley fog Hiked further west and looking towards NE and the fjord and parts of the city Yesterday in the SE hills at 250 m ASL. Small lake down to the left is frozen over. Today boxing day, 100 m ASL. Got a little fresh dry snow overnight. Temps -0.5C. Very fresh nice air after the snowfall, and sounds are getting absorbed by the snow so very quiet also.
This horse seems to be relaxing in the quiet, foggy weather.

Some pictures taken during a walk around my village a couple of days ago. Overall the grass is still very green around, I'm curious to see the final December stats for this year...

So today was insane. I've seen pearlescent clouds once before, but that time it was just one single tiny cloud. Today, there were a ton of pearlescent clouds, from dusk til dawn. I went out on a walk and thought about bringing my DSLR but decided against it. Had no idea the sky was going to look the way it was. My smartphone camera didn't even come close to capturing it like my eyes saw it. (Also notice the sun had already set even though it was only 13:47) The colors are barely even visible in this shot, hut believe me, it was ibcredibly vibrant IRL. This zoomed in shot did a little better job, but it's still not even close. They were among the most vibrant and beautiful colors I've ever seen in my life. Especially the magentas and greens were so fucking vibrant holy fucking shit. Those bright white clouds in this picture were actually very clearly teal colored IRL They've been building a pedestrain/bicycle bridge for years now. It recently got finished. It was the reason I went out in the first place. The actual sunset was pretty neat too. Then as it got darker, the pearlescent clouds just got a pinkish red instead.
