Antarctica logs hottest temperature on record with a reading of 18.3C
A new record set so soon after the previous record of 17.5C in March 2015 is a sign warming in Antarctica is happening much faster than global average
The reading, taken at Esperanza on the northern tip of the continent’s peninsula, beats Antarctica’s previous record of 17.5C, set in March 2015.
A tweet from Argentina’s meteorological agency on Friday revealed the record. The station’s data goes back to 1961.

Yesterday recorded 0.58” of precipitation but only 2.6” of snowfall. That’s a lot of freezing rain.
It’s been snowing all day today, NWS says another 5-10” falling by tonight. I got a day off today for the snow, first town this winter.
Saturday’s cold has been scaled back unfortunately. Forecast is for 20/9 now although I bet the low gets colder with the snowpack.

No. You live in Tucson and Miami, and it doesn't reach -10C there in a normal winter. You and other people have seen the colder temps while traveling but I did not count traveling.

Posters who have seen -10C this winter, based on their home location. This is everyone on the first page of members listed by post count who I thought should see -10C by now. With how mild the winter is, I was wrong a lot. I did not count traveling for this. A few members have seen -10C while traveling. Name - station I checked - Reached minus 10? Lommaren - Norrkoping - No alex992 - DC Dulles - Maybe, -9C at the airport ariete - Turku - No Baba - Umeå - Yes nei - NYC - No Steelernation - Rochester - Yes Gior - Seoul - Yes Angler - Adaminaby - Maybe. I didn't check but I think he reached exactly -10 Hiromant - Tallinn - No ilmc90 - Sussex NJ AP - Yes Nidaros - Trondheim - Yes, he said -10.5 in shoutbox Cadeau - Seoul did, Paris did not - Maybe Crunch41 - Milwuakee - Yes Speagles84 - Pittsburgh - Yes, even in Pittsburgh Morningrise - Saskatoon - Of course Wildcat - Lexington - Yes (only once, in November) Sari - Kansas City - Yes Anhityk - Võru - No tij - Providence and Minneapolis - Yes to both shalop - NYC - No The shoutbox question was actually for -10F, not -10C. All the -10C people, but -10F now. Baba - Umeå - No Steelernation - Rochester - No Gior - Seoul - No Angler - Adaminaby - No ilmc90 - Sussex NJ AP - No Nidaros - Trondheim - No Cadeau - Seoul? - No Crunch41 - Milwuakee - No Speagles84 - Pittsburgh - No Morningrise - Saskatoon - Of course Wildcat - Lexington - No Sari - Kansas City/Somewhere - No tij - Providence and Minneapolis - No to both. Minneapolis reached -9F at airport, suburbs probably saw -10. Of the common posters, Morningrise has the lowest temperature by far at -39C. But we already knew that. Second coldest tij at -9F, third Baba at -19.6C/-3F. After that I think it is me, Speagles, or Steelernation. Coldest here has been a pathetic 6F.

39 F (3.9 C), sunny and breezy as of 11 am. Feels nice and refreshing outside. Predicted high is 44 F (6.7 C) with generally sunny skies, might cloud over in the late afternoon hours though. A small chance of some snow flurries tonight.

Yesterday ended up with 5.1” of snow at the airport.
That’s well below what the forecast said (9-16”) but still a good amount. I bet I got more like 8-10”, the snowpack is pretty deep now.

Coldest here has been a pathetic 6F. 5F for Milwaukee and Rochester. I get a bit cooler than the airport, but Steeler may too.

5 pm Ventusky forecast of wind gusts and this is the lesser-hit coast! Fair to say I'll get outside early today but going away ten miles on a bike with this looming, no way...

Very rare to see a radar like this outside of thunderstorm season. Southern Sweden and Sealand (Denmark's largest island) at 16.15 local time.

Could that be a light at the end of the tunnel that I see?! The Weather Network's 14-day trend shows our upcoming cold snap lasting about a week, and then temperatures rising above average after that, which takes us almost to the end of the month. If those above average temps can hold on for a little bit into March then we'll be mostly done with the chance of extreme cold, which I hope will be the case. I've had quite enough of winter.

Some pretty serious weather across more or less all of the UK today, these tables only include a small sample of stations for some reason but you get the gist.
