Now this isn't something I'm used to in winter.

Cold front just arrived; lots of wind with gusts up to 90 km/h. Big contrasts within a few kilometers:

Another extreme cold warning for Saskatoon, our forecast low for tonight is -30C with a windchill of -41C. Tomorrow's forecast low is -25C and then after that -13C and it continues to warm up all week. So tonight will likely be our last night of the season below -30C, and our last windchill of the season below -40... probably. I did say that last time around too. But long-term forecasts are showing it staying above average after the end of this cold snap, which will take us into early March, and this sort of cold weather is much less likely from that point on.

spent the three day weekend in the White Mountains. Weather (temperature & dewpoint) for a valley station. First morning (Saturday) was very cold but warmed up to normal cold with deep blue skies with some clouding over around sunset. Sunday was mostly cloudy and mild, Monday almost as cold in the afternoon as Saturday but without the very cold morning. Shifted from mostly cloudy to partly cloudy with big puffy clouds over the mountains to completely clear. Higher summits were windy Sunday and Monday Mount Washington temperatures; warmer Saturday morning as it didn't have the radiational cooling of the valleys. In the clouds Sunday (dewpoint and temperature the same); cold Monday very windy most of the weekend up there. Sunday I went up Mt. Madison (5300 feet, Mt. Washington is 6300 feet) encountered winds up to 30 mph. Monday Mt. Eisenhower, maybe 35 mph @ 8°F (-13°C); cold windchills. Too cold and windy for Washington this weekend for me.

7.1° C and raining now, with a brisk westerly breeze.
Hopefully it plummets even more...now this is proper weather!

Of the first 19 days of Fuckuary, just 2 have hit 40.
On the other side, only 2 days have had a high below 28.
That’s ~80% of days with highs in the 30s. Extremely boring month.
With small diurnals and a lack of cold, this month will still end up above average without even reaching 50 and with half the normal 40s.

Well look what came up at the end of the 10-day...a fucking cold snap. TWC says highs in the low 20s next weekend. No real cold all winter then all of a sudden it comes just in time for March. Fuck me. This is why I hate this climate, gonna be a 5 month long extra boring winter.

Low hit 22 F (-5.6 C) this morning, not far off from the predicted low. Still a chilly 27 F (-2.8 C) at 10 am, today's predicted high is 38 F (3.3 C) with sunny skies. Tonight's predicted low per NWS was 22 F (-5.6 C) last night, now they've lowered it to 17 F (-8.3 C) we'll see. We do have fairly low dew points at the moment in the single digits.
