Honestly, kinda feels like winter never got started. At least down here, basically has been a four-month long November. Basically 3 Decembers here and then a February. Lots of snow and cold temps have made it feel plenty wintry here. Actually more wintry than normal due to a lack of warm days and the cold November.

After a record-breakingly warm winter so far, it's now going to snow for three days straight and stay below freezing for the foreseeable future. The local saying "winter won't stay in the sky" holds true, even if it is three months late.

one of the more memorable local weather events; was right where the tornado hit three hours prior Surprised that they had never seen a tornado in February before. Why? rather hard to get a severe thunderstorm in February. Cold fronts don't typically have enough moisture and access to warm air. This one was unusual because it was in the mid 70s but cold air was nearby; setup more common in the Deep South in winter.

Ahhh, spring seems to be properly on the way here! Only one day in the forecast has a subfreezing high this week and only two nights with lows below -10C. Of course we'll still get hit with a cold snap or two in March, but for the most part this is an extremely reasonable end to February and beginning of March. What a relief!

Windiest day in awhile today. Sustained winds in the 30s mph range with gusts of 45-50 mph all day. Strong enough to whistle with lots of blowing snow. 51 mph seems to be the top gust so far.
Usually I think wind chill is very exaggerated but we currently have a wind chill of 8 (-13 c) even though the temp is 26 (-3 c). Iβd say thatβs very accurate, with the wind itβs fucking freezing.
More interesting than 30s and cloudy but Iβm still sick of this cold.

We got fuck all in terms of snow this morning of course, but gosh the afternoon was much windier than forecasted, with gusts up to 117 km/h (73 mph) in Paris-Montsouris.
Feb 2020 was quite a windy month with: 2 days > 100 km/h 6 days > 90 km/h 16 days > 60 km/h
One fatality due to a fallen tree in Paree:

I'm wondering if the Bingley weather station is sheltered somewhat because it rarely records anything as strong as you might expect given we're closer to the usual Atlantic storm track. So far (with one wind event still to come): 0 days > 100 km/h (highest = 96 km/h) 1 day > 90 km/h 6 days > 80 km/h 17 days > 60 km/h We had falling snow last night btw, but falling onto wet ground so no accumulations.

It was a cold night last night, but UtΓΆ's record low of the winter stood strong; -3.6C in December, giving a hardiness zone of 9b.
Windy February there as well.
