Actually had a little bit of lightning this week! Plus a bit of rain. But it's been a disappointing start to thunderstorm season.

After an astronomically cold low of 75 F (23.9 C) this morning, it's already quite hot at 89 F (31.7 C) at 11 am with a 73 F (22.8 C) dew point. Per NWS, the predicted high is 91 F and per TWC it's the same. I think we'll easily surpass this.

The last 5 days before today had 0.1”, 0.4”, 0.5”, 0.1” and 0.1” of snow. 5 straight snowy days in mid April. Fuck that.
Today was the first day since Monday to get out of the 40s but that was short lived. Yet another afternoon in the 40s, this time with rain and drizzle.

We've finally reached proper spring weather in Saskatoon, and damn it feels nice! Tonight is also the only night in the forecast with a sub-freezing low, which is great! Last time we had a low above freezing was October 17th, so this will be a very welcome change.

Two out of the past three mornings have reached -1C here. Out in the LI pine barrens (~25 miles east of me) it has been as low as -7c: w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KFOK.htmlThis past one-week period has seen the biggest negative anomaly since December. It's nice for biking, but I would have preferred this in mid winter as well.

We've had a pretty average month with an average high of 6.9'C at the airport. Kronoby on the other hand has only averaged 4.4'C

Hot and windy as hell here today, 94 F (34.4 C) with a 68 F (20 C) dew point and SW winds at 26 mph G 35 mph. Today's predicted high is 95 F (35 C), but SW winds are hot down here so I think we'll surpass that.

Illustration of the huge positive anomalies in April since 2007. The month will gain about 1°C on the 1991-2020 normals. Rediculous:

Found this amusing from CD: this could be the first April since 1940 that NYC (and LGA, and EWR, and JFK) fails to reach 70f.
March reached 70 several times though. Typical April will reach 80F.

We tied our record low of 30F/-1C on Saturday morning. That was our fourth freeze this April and tied for fourth latest freeze on record. I'm pretty sure we're done with freezes now, looking at the long-range forecast.

So yesterday ended up having a high of 99 F (37.2 C), got blue-balled from hitting 100 F (37.8 C) but 99 F is still very impressive! It beats the old April record high of 97 F (36.1 C) set in April 2015 and was also tied a few days ago. What a remarkable April this has been! This morning is warm and humid, but not nearly as hot as yesterday. "Only" 83 F with a 70 F (28.3 C and 21.1 C) dew point. Today's high is predicted at 90 F (32.2 C) with a 40% chance of thunderstorms.

We just missed out on having our first above-freezing low this morning, as we dropped down to -0.6C at 6:00am. So close! But every low in the forecast is at or above 0C so it'll certainly happen sometime this week. Meanwhile, Calgary recorded an extremely impressive low of 11C this morning, which is warmer than their average lows in mid-summer, nevermind April.
