stuck mildly cool weather since the start of the year; April is likely to have a colder max temperature here than Jan, Feb and March

Europe today: sunny in the norfffffff, cloudy in the souffffff
That handsome sunshine helped us to the warmest temp this year, 16.7C at Artukainen. Tomorrow and Thursday will be nice and sunny, but then the weather turns crap again.

I'm seeing the first few blades of grass starting to turn green, I thought it would take a little longer since our nights are only just starting to go above freezing but nope, it's already starting. Can't wait to finally have some color back in our scenery again.

wind has been blasting all day with a cold airmass; not enough budding to cause damage, but must be a few spots at risk in NYC suburbs departing low dumping snow over Atlantic Canada same setup a few weeks earlier would have been much colder temperatures, not enough time for the cold to build with the fast moving airmass and wind

Today is the latest -10c 850mb temp ever recorded in the NYC area. Previous latest was April 14th.
It's been epic; max temperatures have been consistently near 10c for the past 10 days, whereas the normal max is 15c. We are now below average for the month, which is very welcome after a shit March. Been enjoying riding my bike 5-12 miles every day. The dew points have been epic as well:

Massive upgrade on EC: 24 cm on the cards here, with up to 60 cm on the ranges⦠I'm having my doubts, but if they got it right before, they can it get right again. Unbelievable snowfall for April!

This shows pretty well the effect the North Sea can have on temperatures at this time of year with even a slight east wind, plenty of days like that this month as well!

The airport recorded 0.8β of snow yesterday and 0.3β on Tuesday. None fell here unless it was non-sticking snow in the middle of the night.
The month is now averaging 49.8/32.4 through the 22nd. Today is the 10th straight below average day, a pattern that will continue until who knows when with a fucking western ridge building.
This April now has: 9 days >50 8 days >0.1β snow
2 days >60βtied for the fewest all time

A tornado went across the area last night! It tracked about 8-10 miles south of me over mostly rural areas. Did cause some considerable damage and unfortunately even 1 fatality in a mobile home. Right now it's rated EF-2. It came from a long-track tornado producing supercell that came out of east Texas, and went across Louisiana and into Mississippi. The north part of the supercell went over me. I heard a constant roar while it came over. Not sure if it was wind in the upper levels; surface winds didn't seem that strong. Or maybe it was constant thunder. Quite a bit of lightning!

Still waiting on the transition from Brown to Green. Cambium must be close now, all the way up to NYC and a bit north. SE Pennsylvania as usual is the first to be green in our state. A cool April has really delayed the green up. Myself, crunch, nei (W Massachusetts location), and Steelers still waiting on a green up. Pretty much all other US posters are in full out spring mode.
Very weak spring, 10 days ago it was here
