The first 8 days here (Trondheim AP) averaged 9.1c/3.5c mean 5.9c (ca -2c below avg).
Coldest low so far is 1.6c, not that cold but more cold nights to come.
The first week of January had warmest high 13c First week of April 15.3c
All the while Oslo (94 m), not that far away, is again above average so far in May with 14.7c /3.7c
How f**** long is this shitty weather setup to last? Have been four months now Weather is completely stuck it seems. For a period, the forecast for next week would be the coldest period this time in May since 1955 if it verified (colder than half the days of January this year), but seems to be somewhat less extreme now.
We should deserve a fantastic June-Aug having "saved up" so long for a good weather setup if it just functioned that way Yeah it's been bad in Trondheim lately. But 4 months? Wasn't February way above average and March still above average?

Wasn't February way above average and March still above average? Yes, Jan-Mar was all above average, westerly winds give mild winters here, but cloudy.
Weather/winds from S (sometimes also SE) can give mild and sunny weather in winter. Now from late Apr the weather setup is stil basically the same, but with a small nuance, as the weather comes from NW, polar winds from Greenland and the North Pole in an Arctic outbreak. Can't get worse.

Holy shit. It seems that Laguardia just broke its monthly record low for May.
So the four stations which broke the monthly record this morning were apparently LGA, BGM, IND, and FWA. Fort Wayne broke the May record by 4 degrees F!

Had some heavy t-storms yesterday with cold front. Got 2.37" of rain. I didn't have anything severe, but warnings were issued to my south.
High today of 71F and mostly sunny. Forecast to get down to the upper 40's tonight!

cold front passed overnight but the winds are strongest after the cold front you can see the lines much closer together to the west of the low (where the low has just passed)

Fort Wayne broke the May record by 4 degrees F! most of the time late spring cold mornings are from clear skies and still air after a cool but not necessarily cold day from lots of radiational cooling. For example, May 9 2016 here was 64/30, had thick frost on my car. UHI (and maybe seabreeze) blocks radiational cooling in NYC. No freeze yet here, but the mid level air is much colder than those freeze events, UHI or sea can't do much and wind is blasting in cold air. So better setup than usual for a cold low in NYC

At 500 mb, it's -29C lol. i.imgur.com/tPVdjyi.jpg (courtesy cambium once again)

Crazy stuff in the east. Heard there was even some flakes in Toronto.
Meanwhile out west here in Vancouver, the warmth continues! Some of the eastern suburbs may crack 30C today.

Shit, Nashville only dropped to 35 F (1.7 C). Would have been epic if they beat their latest freeze on record by two weeks (record is still April 25, 1910). w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KBNA.htmlToday is a fairly nice day, 66 F (18.9 C) was the low this morning(at FXE), 86 F (30 C) with a 61 F (16.1 C) as of noon, headed up to 92 F (33.3 C) with sunny skies.
