Super dry out here at the moment, I guess that's what happens when you have so little rain over such a long period time. Dew points tend to stay below freezing during the day even when we're decently warm, with relative humidity dropping down into the low 20s the past few afternoons.
Even now at 10:00pm it's 7C with a dew point of -7C. So dry! We've got several lows above 10C coming up over the next few days, hopefully that means higher humidity.

Örnskoldsvik seems to have had a lot warmer lows than Umeå this May then, no -5C lows there. Is that large difference normal? Because their airport is higher up, it tends to be a little milder during clear nights. Umeå airport is notoriously cold during clear nights. Though I don't know what -5'C temperatures you're talking about. Umeå airport hasn't been reporting anything to ogimet or SMHI since the 9th, and before that, -4.9 was the coldest temperature and that was on the 1st of May. On weatherhq.com the airport has kept reporting rounded figures every 40 minutes, and those don't seem to be any colder than Örnsköldsvik. Edit: Oh shit, I just realized I accidentally uploaded Steinkjer's data instead of Örnsköldsvik. Here's Örnsköldsvik's airport: Quite a bit better weather there than in Trøndelag.

Holy shit what the actual fuck. What station is that? 6 winter days in a row in May, and an ice day in the middle of the month? Oh nevermind, that's obviously not in Trondheim. Tromsø?

Holy shit what the actual fuck. What station is that? 6 winter days in a row in May, and an ice day in the middle of the month? Oh nevermind, that's obviously not in Trondheim. Tromsø? That is indeed in Trondheim municipality!
That station is Skistua at 433 m ASL / 1420 ft in Bymarka, Trondheim hills. Notice still 45 cm snow on the ground on May 15th. That is not a record up there, for there are old data from an earlier station at the same place up there like 100 years ago recording 70 cm of snow in Mid-May.
Here is a station near sea level in Trondheim: Ranheim (23 m, the closest station to me)
No winter days and absolutely no ice days at Ranheim. Coldest high 4.4C and coldest low -0.4C. Same with Lade staton, also near sea level.
The high is about 4C colder up at Skistua than at Ranheim in this extreme cold week, which translates to about 1C/100m decrease in highs by elevation.
I will never again see a week here in mid-May like May 10 - May 16. 2020. The month so far is also very cold.

High today was 61 (16 c) with sunny skies. Went for a long walk in the park, which was surprisingly crowded.
This is by far the prettiest time of year here. Although there’s still some bare trees, many, like maples, are leafed out now. Small trees are either flowering or leafed out. Tons of whites, pinks, reds and purpled everywhere. Surprisingly no lilacs yet though.

Finally getting some decent lows over here, all above 10C in the upcoming forecast except for one day. Hopefully this will help accelerate our vegetation growth, which has fallen well behind thanks to the very cold nights we've had recently.

Our media all this week have been saying that the next weekend will be warmer and it looks very possible with a T850 hPa temperature increase, according to GFS.

Woah wtf. Is that a record low high for the date? You noticed my next post in the thread saying this is up in the hills at 433 m /1420 ft ASL?
Don't know if it's a record up there, probably is since the weather station is new, although I know snow depth has been recorded up there also earlier, and for some time way back also temps.
For Trondheim (airport, sea level), there has never been an ice-day later than Apr 16th, and that was in 1966 (-0.4C).

Storms came thru this evening and even an unexpected tornado warning nearby. Lightning may have hit my sister's apartment as her TV shorted out, but there really weren't that many strikes. I got over an inch of rain.

Still hasn't hit 90F here this year (hasn't yet been above 87F). Thinking we will likely hit it later this week. NWS is calling for temps 90F and above Thursday thru the weekend.

This week is supposed to be very very wet. Guess the monsoons are coming

Another hot week. Still no sign of the monsoon (and still no storms 🙄), although DMK airport had 37 mm yesterday. Also, despite this long spell of hot, dry weather it doesn't look like we'll break 40 C. Not that I really care, but it would be kind of interesting.

Haven't been outside on any walks or gone to the center parts of the city in over a week because of shitty weather and work in the western end of the city. Today's the first day I'm visiting the warmer parts of town and the difference is pretty stark. Many birch lined streets have all green birches the more central parts. In the western parts I've only seen a couple birches that are visibly green from a distance.

warm, dry and stable weather coming up. Will have warmer days than NYC; nice for a change, seems to happen most in dry weather in late spring when the sun strength is high but the ocean is chilly. Nights of course are cooler, but the difference is smaller than the day temperatures. 12°F warmer on Thursday here than NYC; might be an influence of an upper level low? Here: NYC:
