There's a Saskatoon-sized wildfire burning up north, about 200km NE of us. They've issued an air quality advisory statement here, although the wind isn't blowing in the right direction for any of that smoke to make its way down here. In fact, we've just had a large rain cell make its way through town and is now heading pretty much directly in the direction of the fire, so hopefully that will help the situation.

Veiholmen, same latitude as Trondheim, but on the ocean coast. So can it be when the same year has the warmest January recorded and the coldest ever recorded first half (first 17 days) of May. Extreme.

How leafed out is Saskatoon at this point? Was in Quebec City at the end of last May and was quite surprised that not everything was leafed out yet It's coming along. The leaves are still fairly small but most trees have them, few of them are still fully bare. It's a bit behind schedule this year, just like it was last year, due to persistent very cold nights in the first half of the month. We've finally had some warm nights now (including our first two lows above 10C) so it's picking up, and I'm sure the rain we got this morning will help with that.

We've had weather that I would consider ideal for June recently, with highs around 80F/27C and lows in the mid-upper 50s F (13-15C). Overall this May has been nice, but May is never too cold in Oklahoma. We're running at 2.5F/1.4C below average, which is a pretty nice place to be.

Man, we got the short end of the stick today! 27C with a 15C dew point in Regina, but 11C, cloudy, and super windy in Saskatoon. They have a much nicer forecast than us the next few days, too.

80s all the way up to the Hudson Bay today, yet NYC is stuck in the low 60s. It's a happy day.

Storms in the area today, especially to the northwest where they have stalled out. A spot of radar estimated 10+ inches of rain in what looks like a pretty unpopulated area! Around half in inch in Alexandria.
Temps haven't been above 73F today with cloud cover & storms around since the morning. Yesterday we hit 90F for the first time of the year. Warming up again tomorrow with temps around 90F again.

Looks like for the next few days it'll be warmer here than further south. Stuck upper level low only patchy clouds left from the upper level low right now very dry up here north of the upper level low temperatures evened out at 9 pm so there's not much north-south difference north of Georgia

High today was 71 (22 c), just the 4th 70 of the year. It was a beautiful sunny day with dews in the low 30s.

The low appears to be centred smack-bang on the Riverina (Griffith right in the eye):

Probably light snow at Orange Airport now (33° S, 948 m); 2° C with rain on BoM observations.
Storm is yet to arrive here—it's looking like more of a Central West event.

After 20 days of May, our mean is more than 4C below avg (compared to that period, not compared with the whole month), and only 1.1C warmer than the January avg this year! From now, however, temps are finally returning to average, and we might see the first day above avg this May the coming days. So for the next months the lows and especially the outbreaks of polar air can go somewhere else.

Currently 1.6° C and lightly snowing here…and well I'll be cunted, look at that yellow storm cell on the Canberra radar! Foot of snow with my name on it come morning, if it manages to hit me. I'm staying up all night watching this shit, and if I get heavy snow, I'll take a good pic of it (when it's not dark). Forecasts and models flopped dead on this one…not even close to observations. Not mad at all, though!

morning temperatures didn't drop to 36°F, still a big drop from the high (about 73°F). only 38°F or 41°F depending on the station. 6 am temperatures last week's temperature; freeze-free and warm; first warm week of the spring

Soo with today's likely 30°C and tomorrow's equally likely 20°C+ low, May is on the track of becoming the 12th consexcutive above average month.
Past 11 months vs the 1981-2010 averages in Orly. It's obvious that these antique averages don't mean jackshit anymore:
+2,2°C June 2019 +2,4°C July 2019 +1,3°C August 2019 +1,2°C September 1019 +1,3°C October 2019 +0,6°C November 2019 +2,2°C December 2019 +2,4°C January 2020 +4,3°C February 2020 +1,0°C March 2020 +4,1°C April 2020
