But of course, mild spells this time of year usually bring snow with them. Will cool off significantly after Dec 15th though and long range models are showing a brutal cold snap starting around Dec 20 going into the end of December and on into January. Models are predicting January to be extremely, brutally cold. Of course this winter is coming after two much milder than normal winters. December 2015 had an average high of 20 F (normal average high is -12 F), January 2016 had an average high of 11 F (normal average high is -14 F), Feb 2016 had an average high of 16 F (normal is -11 F). And last year even though December 2016 and January 2017 were below normal, February 2017 was so above normal that it ended being a much milder than normal winter. February 2017 had an average high of 26 F vs. the normal high of -11 F. In fact, March 2017 was more than 20 F colder than February. Ok, didn't mean to go into the whole history, lmao.

It's 44F and partly cloudy in Clearstown right now. The last of the snow from Sunday night is melting.

Nah, 0 F is perfectly doable, although I would suppose it depends on the person.
Yes, actually models are showing highs in the -65 F to -70 F range and lows in the -80 F range for that brutal cold snap.

Also, -80 F isn't really something that happens every year in Winter Haven, more like once every 5 years. Average annual low is -70 F (-57 C), a more "typical" cold snap is lows of about -55 F (-48 C) or so, but this year has been quite brutal, I guess nature balancing itself out after the past two ridiculously mild winters. I could enjoy down to about -35 F (-37 C), that's why the coldest "average" low of my dream climate is about -33 F or -34 F (-37 C). I experienced -35 F back in January 2004 in Upstate NY and it was doable outside with proper clothing up to about 20-30 minutes. I have a strong affinity for cold though and am heat sensitive. I honestly put interest over comfort every time.
