11:00 AM Temp: -90 F (-68 C) Conditions: Clear with ice fog Wind: Variable/3 mph Dew Point: -90 F (-68 C) Snow Depth: 242.3" (615 cm) Seasonal snowfall to date: 270.8" (688 cm; +86.6"/+220 cm from normal) Not warming up much today... I get that you want this climate for interest purposes but Iβm genuinely wondering what you find so interesting about this. I can understand -90 being interesting, I think that would be an interesting temperature too, but your observations are mind-numblingly boring IMO. So damn repetitive with -50 to -90 every day for the last few weeks. Do you find these extremely cold temperatures so interesting that having them for weeks at a time is still interesting? Maybe we just have different views of what is interesting...I find extreme cold interesting for a few days but then it would get boringβvariability is what I need for a climate to be interesting. Not knocking your preferences or anything, Iβm just curious.

Not knocking your preferences or anything, Iβm just curious. To be honest, this is quite rare in this climate to have such a prolonged cold snap. Usually it's swinging between moderate cold and extreme cold but this cold snap is kind of unprecedented, I would probably get bored of this myself if I lived in my climate. A lot of this is also fueled because I'm starved of cold weather, so I'm adding some personal bias here. I also made the record highs in winter a lot higher (DJF record highs were 31 F, 22 F, and 34 F previously, now they're 48 F, 41 F, and 50 F). I do like consistent cold and snow pack. Also, there is big time moderation coming for next week, so there'll be some different observations lol. I get where you're coming from though, it does seem a bit ridiculous. And I had a feeling you'd comment on that eventually lol. I don't really want 60 F in winter though, and would rather winter heat waves to still be below freezing, but very moderate cold.

Would it even be possible to go outside without a spacesuit in weather like this? According to south pole winter-overs, it's possible to go out without too much equipment but only for very short periods of time. Take a look at these two vids below. The second one addresses how to dress for long-term exposure when its -70C outside:
