Low this morning was an extremely frigid, ice cold, -101 F (-74 C) which absolutely shatters the all-time record by 5 F (3 C). Well, a new all-time record was set yesterday at -98 F (-72 C) but the old record was -96 F (-71 C). Today won't warm up much and tonight is looking just as cold.

Certain plants have taken quite a bit of damage from this unprecedented cold snap, but due to the warm and wet summers everything is expected to recover. The deep snow cover does help protect tree roots from extreme cold. Animals? They're all either hibernated or went somewhere warmer for winter lol. I'm assuming animals who winter like wolves, arctic fox, etc probably seeked shelter.

This current cold snap has been shattering records in Winter Haven. All-time record low before this cold snap was -96 F (-71 C) in Winter Haven, the past three mornings have been -98 F (-72 C), -101 F (-74 C) and -101 F (-74 C) respectively also broken records for all-time record low highs. Tonight is looking to follow suit to drop below -100 F (-73 C) once again. Winter Haven is looking a lot more seasonable after 22 January though, with much milder moving in but with a lot of snow coming along with it.
