Went for a walk around 8pm today. It was very windy and 9C so it felt cold. loved that spot; is that walking distance form your home or you drove? Rather wild that past there it's roadless for a while; some cities have undeveloped tracts near the city but roadless

It was a beautiful afternoon today. Got up to 18C with relatively little wind, and the sun kept coming and going behind clouds. The landscape is still yellow/brown at the moment but there are more and more individual blades of grass that are starting to turn green as well as tiny buds starting to sprout on many trees and plants. With the continued warm temperatures in the forecast we'll hopefully be noticeably turning green within a week or two. There are also still a few remnants of winter lingering in certain areas...

Those are some of my favourite types of clouds. Low, flattish cumulus especially in the first and last images.

Those are some of my favourite types of clouds. Low, flattish cumulus especially in the first and last images. They're super common here during the warmer months. If the landscape in the first picture was green it would be just about the most stereotypical "summertime in Saskatchewan" image you could get.

We get those types occasionally in spring-autumn in the Wheatbelt regions of Western Australia (inland from Perth). Much less often in perth though.

The last few days have been pretty cold, but the trees have gotten slightly greener anyway. I went for a walk for the first time in a couple days because I injured my lower back pretty badly and have just been lying in bed for the last two days. Had a fika with my friend at a cafรฉ and then walked back in the evening sunlight. Really nice lighting. If you look really closely, you can see there's a hint of green in the trees behind those boats. (Almost) only bird cherries have leaves at all, and even among bird cherries, the vast majority of the trees have only large buds, or half-way opened buds with enough leaves sticking out to glow green in the right lighting, but not really appear green otherwise or from a distance. How most bird cherries look: One nice thing with these subpolar latitudes is golden hour lasts forever.

Yesterday was Walpurgis Eve. Normally it's celebrated with huge bonfires, but this year those were all cancelled so I brought along a girl to the Arboretum where we had a small barbeque. I've been here many times the last year, as you all know, but this time was definitely the most beautiful in over half a year. The lighting was just so nice! And some may think this time of the year is really ugly and bland because there's pretty much neithet any snow nor any green trees. I disagree. I love the yellow spring grass, and I love how crisp everything looks in the spring sun. And now that there are tiny green leaves sparkling everywhere, it's even nicer! Golden hour over the still very low flowing rapids. I've taken pretty much this exact shot many times before. Sorry. I just really like the aesthetics of this particular scene. One good thing about 99% of the trees not having leaves yet is that views aren't as obstructed! I really like the contrast that these last specks of snow add to the scenery, at least now that I know winter is gone for at least... Half a year.... Same goes for this bit of ice in the river. In my opinion it adds a lot of beautiful contrast to the already beautiful sunset scene. The girl I was with didn't agree though. She thought it ruined the scene. Our bonfire. We tried something called "The Beyond Burger". One of those vegan burger patties that "bleed" and are supposed to taste just like meat. I haven't eaten meat in 7 years so I can't really vouch for that, and I don't care one bit whether it tastes like real meat or not. All I care about is whether it tastes good or not. And it did taste really good, so I was happy. The girl I was with thought it tasted just like meat though for whatever that's worth. I'm a bit dubious but whatever. The bottom bun slipped a little, so aesthetically speaking it looks a little bottom heavy on the image but... whatever, here's the result.

Visited Squamish again today but in a different spot. Despite the incoming clouds, it was a beautiful short moment there. 15C and windy. Perfect spring or even summer weather.

The trees are getting greener for each day, surprisingly enough, despite the weather being so cold and gloomy for the last few days. Went to.... the arboretum.... today with my friend and the dog. This time we took a detour over to the other side of the river and had some coffee there instead. Greening up Misty hills My favorite picture of the day. It didn't feel like we were 2km away from the city. Felt like we were on a trip to the far inland of Northern Sweden. The dog wimped for 5 minutes because he couldn't reach his stick in the water Green and muddy Misty over the river on the way back. Drizzled ever so slightly. Then we went up through the woods to where his parents live. My second favorite picture of the day.

The weather gods continue to troll society with this long run of perfect spring weather while everyone is in lockdown, which mean I was lucky enough to have the river all to myself.
