Warmest August in Göteborg since 2006. It also recorded the highest average temperature in Sweden this August. Much drier and sunnier than normal as well. That is VERY impressive considering where you are! It always seems more surprising to me when Gothenburg gets warm and sunny weather compared to the rest of Sweden because I think of it in terms of it being pretty much directly across the sea from Aberdeen with its permashit climate. That 800-900 km or whatever further east makes a huge difference, your average high was warmer than Aberdeen's absolute high and the difference in sunshine is like night and day. www.meteociel.fr/climatologie/obs_villes.php?code=3091&mois=8&annee=2020

However, it's good to remember that the Gothenburg weather station is literally between congested railroad tracks, and the UHI is enormous.

Yeh, the UHI contribute a lot. If you look at the general temperature deviations for this August, Göteborg was in the general +2.5C deviation area, yet was +3.3C above the 61-90 average. www.smhi.se/data/meteorologi/kartor/karta/foregaende-manad/temperatur/

Ha! I'll trade you then, PA has a much a better temperature profile for me than Saskatoon Deal! Although 2019 didn't you have a like -18C average high in February? Thats too cold, even for me lol.
Yeah we had a month-long cold snap that February. Not very common at all but it can happen. Those summers look just fine to me, actually I would say the wetness of the winters is my least favorite aspect of that climate.

That being said, sunny days and clear nights tend to benefit a lot more from UHI than cloudy weather.

Umeå It was a dry and relatively sunny month, but unlike in southern Sweden, we never had any proper heat wave, and only ended up with average temperatures. Temps compared to 1991-2020 (02-18)
High: +0.6 (+0.1) Mean: +0.2 (-0.1) Low: -0.3 (-0.5) Precipitation vs 1961-1990: 27% Sunshine vs 2002-2018: 125% Here's some other weather boxes: CapitalLund (4 days of data missing for august) Svenska högarnaSvenska högarna is an islet in the far end of the Stockholm Archipelago. It's the station that consistently records the most sunshine out of all the Swedish and Nordic stations. This year looks extremely funky. It's like there's only two seasons. Very dry, and very sunny. 2049h already within the first 8 months. SMHI's summary:

It might be a while before I'm able to post mine. NWS Lake Charles hasn't done daily climate reports since Aug 25. They've been shut down since Hurricane Laura struck.

Nice first 5 months of the year in Smithers but the summer has turned out to be pretty crappy this year.

August was 0.2c warmer than average, the amount of precipitation was about 45% of the monthly average, the sunshine was slightly below average. I will post the climate boxes soon on the CD forum.

Why not here? Few go on CD anymore, or have been for the last years.

August 2020 Summary The first 2/3 was cold, wet and cloudy (similar to July) before a warm spell for the last 10 days brought the month above average. The 3rd was the coldest August day for Perth Metro, Jandakot and all stations in the SW region that began in the 1993-1994 period (there's a generation of stations that began then). So we experienced the coldest August day in at least 27 years. Jandakot: High Max: 24.4C (27th) Mean Max: 18.7C (0.0) Low Max: 13.3C (3rd) Monthly Anomaly: +0.25C High Min: 14.0C (11th) Mean Min: 7.7C (+0.5C) Low Min: 2.4C (31st) Rain: 94.6mm (73.6% of average 128.4mm) Rain Days: 13 (-2.5 days) Sun: 211.0 hours Sun hours/day: 6.8 (-0.3 hrs/day) Perth Metro: High Max: 25.4C (27th) Mean Max: 19.1C (0.0) Low Max: 12.1C (3rd) Monthly Anomaly: +0.2C High Min: 13.3C (11th) Mean Min: 8.7C (+0.4C) Low Min: 4.6C (30th) Rain: 92.8mm (74.5% of average 124.4mm) Rain Days: 14 (-1.9 days) Sun: 211.0 Sun hours/day: 6.8 (-0.3 hrs/day)

Bangkok, Bang Na agromet. site -------------------------------------
Mean high: 33.3 C Max high: 36.6 C Min high: 30.2 C
Mean low: 24.5 C Max low: 27.8 C Min low: 19.3 C (I suspect faulty equipment here as no other site got below 23 C)
Rain: 356 mm Raindays > 1 mm: 12 Raindays > 10 mm: 8 Highest 24 hr rainfall: 90 mm
This month wasn't as wet as it appears as almost half of the rain fell over the last two days of the month. A bipolar month with alternating periods of sun and rain.

Nice first 5 months of the year in Smithers but the summer has turned out to be pretty crappy this year. Those first three months would be fantastic out here, April is nearly bang-on average for what we have, May is a bit mediocre but not awful, and then Jun/Jul/Aug... yikes!
