.SYNOPSIS... High pressure will continue to build in from the northwest today, sliding offshore Sunday and remaining in control through early next week.
&&
.NEAR TERM /TODAY/... As of 9:30 AM Saturday...Surface ridge continues to shift southeast over the area this morning, and should become centered over the area by midday. A modest shortwave will move through the area during the day, but there will be a lack of moisture for this shortwave to tap into, resulting in only scattered midlevel clouds.
Temperatures will range in the upper 80s to lower 90s inland today, and humidity will range just 20-30 percent (or dew points in the 40s) under mostly sunny skies, with good subsidence also present. &&
.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT/... As of 10 AM Saturday...Another cool/dry night as high pressure slowly moves east through the area. Winds will likely decouple inland again with light southeasterly winds for coastal sections. Temps tonight will fall into the upper 50s/lower 60s inland to mid 60s due to the much warmer SSTs.
&&
.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/... As of 9:30 AM Saturday...
Sunday through Midweek...High pressure dominates the early part of the forecast as midlevel ridge remains over the region through midweek keeping us dry. The surface high slides offshore Sunday, bringing us back to a more SE'ly flow regime, increasing temps to start the week. Highs reach the mid 90s again by Monday. Clouds increase Wednesday as the high pushes offshore, providing influx of moisture with onshore flow ahead of an approaching front, so could see scattered mid-level clouds.
Late week...A lot of model discrepancy to end the period. The GFS bombs out a cutoff low, creating a weak tropical system off the coast that would eventually impact the area by Friday while the Euro keeps an open wave in the area that only becomes a 1014mb low late on Friday, but the GFS is considered an outlier for now. Model trends with this timeframe will be closely watched. Regardless, the end of the week looks to be a partly cloudy, possibly showery pattern with the likelihood of rain lasting into the weekend. Highs back to the upper 80s to lower 90s with increased cloud coverage and precip.

.SYNOPSIS... High pressure will build in from the north through early this week. A cold front slowly moves through on Thursday with dry high pressure building in late in the week through the weekend.
&&
.NEAR TERM /TODAY/... As of 12:30 PM Sun...Surface high pressure will continue to build into the area today as mid level ridging builds in from the west. Areas of patchy altocumulus have been over the area this morning, but have dissipated around noon. Low level thickness values support temps above climo today, with highs in the upper 80s along the coast and lower to mid 90s inland.
&&
.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT/... As of 9:00 AM Sun...High pressure will continue to build in from the north, making for another quiet night. Lows generally in the 65-70°F range.
&&
.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... As of 9:00 AM Sun...Dry weather to start the extended period with increasing rain chances by mid week with a strong but slow moving cold front. Above normal temps through Wednesday, will cool to near or even below seasonal norms by Thursday through the weekend.
Monday through Tuesday...Mainly dry weather still expected during this time with weak ridging over our area. May see the isolated shower or two Tuesday as a veering onshore flow moistens the atmosphere, and a coastal trough provides some lift. Near-normal highs for the period, generally in the upper 80s to lower 90s and lows in the upper 60s by night with warm and humid pattern, with dew points generally in the 60s; stratus development at night is possible.
Wednesday through Thursday...Some model disagreements in the speed of the next cold front, but overall thinking has not changed with regard to the Wednesday and/or Thursday time period being our best chance for rain over the next 7 days. Have increased PoP's through this period, with highest chances centered now on Wed night, then tapering off through the day Thu. Latest trends with 19/00Z ECM/CMC indicate a slower soln., which may have heaviest rain centered early Thursday, and have increased PoP's a bit into first part of Thu to account for the slower trend. The reason being is the trough deepens to the northwest, which slows progression of the upper low and attendant cold front, finally passing through the area by late Thu.
Friday through Saturday...Cooler and drier air mass builds in with high pressure spilling in from the northwest. Heights near climo or slightly below will lead to slightly lower than avg. temps with highs generally around 85°F and lows in the lower 60s.
