7 day forecast for Blocktown: Remaining seasonable with storms at the start and the end of the working week.

Synopsis: A weak shortwave passing overhead will bring
some cirrus coverage through the through tonight, and into Monday. High pressure dominates, with light
synoptic winds and highs in the mid to upper 80s F for most of
the area, with onshore flow likely, especially Monday afternoon, and while dry low level air and subsidence aloft will
suppress any rain chances, high-resolution guidance indicates
that there will likely be enough mid-level moisture to allow mid-level clouds to form Monday night. Dry conditions will dominate
through the long term with temps near climo through mid week
warming to above normal late in the week. Upper ridging should aloft Wednesday through the end of the week with surface high pressure centered across the area bringing dry conditions and a warming trend. High temps inland will be in the upper 80s to near 90°F; mid week with lower-mid 90s by Friday and upper 90s to lower 100s next weekend.

Calm, sunny and pleasant before a front on Thursday afternoon followed by one on Sunday will keep temperatures cold, windy and cloudy. Lots of rain as well.

May 18- 24/9- mostly sunny, light winds.
May 19- 24/9- sunny morning becoming cloudy around midday, light winds tending N/NE 15-20km/h in the late morning.
May 20- 21/11- cloudy, scattered morning showers tending rain in the early afternoon then a return to showers (12.2mm), winds N 10-20km/h increasing NW 20-40km/h in the morning then shifting W/SW 15-30km/h in the afternoon.
May 21- 17/11- cloudy, rain (27.8mm), winds W/SW 20-30km/h.
May 22- 17/9- partly cloudy, few showers (0.4mm), winds W 20-30km/h shifting S/SW 15-25km/h in the morning then W/NW 20-30km/h in the evening.
May 23- 18/13- cloudy, dry at first becoming rainy in the morning (17.6mm), winds NW 20-40km/h shifting S/SW 15-20km/h in the late morning.

Synopsis: The week starts out with a marine-based flow with mixed clouds and sun. Cannot rule out the potential for a spotty thunderstorm or two coming off of the mountains, though the convection should be suppressed along the immediate coast. High pressure takes over through the week and a land-based flow develops, with downsloping winds, the first 90s of the summer should be in the cards. We could catch the southernmost part of a cold front which, if CAPE values permit, should bring at least a slight risk for severe weather into the forecast area.

Missed a couple days. Anyway now that I’m on vacation, I’ll be back to the old style forecasts for awhile.
